Thats traditionally been a concern for supes. The slow painful almost pitiable death of newspapers in the real world has been marching on for almost two decades now and everyone just seems to acknowledge that the Daily Planet is getting more and more discredited as time goes on but none of the fixes seem to really gel.

So how would you guys fix it? I always wondered why they didn't revisit the TV news angle but instead of the mind numbingly dumb idea of making Clark an Anchor why not make him a producer with Lois as the on screen personality?

Make them bloggers!

I think Lois and Clark both kinda need to be investigative reporters. Clark is an investigative reporter because it helps him as Superman. Lois is an investigative reporter because she's smart, determined and fearless. So putting them in TV "news" wouldn't really work.

just kill the paper and make the whole thing an online news site. they'll still need editors, reporters, photographers and the like, so the majority of the DP cast still heeps their jobs.

And do they have to go to a work place? Because Clark could do all of his work online at super speed and then go save the world with no one realizing he left.

[up] Good point, actually. If it's all done online, at the speed of Internet, then he can learn about problems all over the world as they happen. He could be putting out a fire in Central City almost before the TV crews show up.

If his computer is up to it. No internet connection is fast enough for Superman or the Flash!

Wasn't that what Mo S turned it into?

Its also kinda how DCUO handles it, with the Daily Planet now using Lois as a tv news anchor among other things.

How is the situation in the current comics? I haven't exactly been paying much attention to the D Cn U.

Large national newspapers like The New York Times are big and successful enough to go online while still keeping a print format. I vaguely recall the Daily Bugle going that route, so I don't see why the Planet can't do the same.

As I recall, Pre-Crisis, Earth-1 Lois and Clark actually worked as television newspeople.

Yeah but Clark was a news anchor during that run. When he really should have been an EP or something.

[up][up][up] Print isn't doing so badly that you can't have newspaper reporters.

I think he could still work at a television news station. He can do investigative work without appearing in front of a TV.

The Daily Planet has an online presence in Superman Birthright as Daily Planet Dot Met. If you look at Superman American Alien Issue 7 there are broadcasting elements like Lois and Jimmy filming Superman vs Lobo from a news helicopter. In 1x11 of Superman & Lois they have Lois doing a broadcast interview with Superman and more broadcasting elements in The Death Of Superman 2018 animated film where Lois and Jimmy are reporting live on Superman vs Doomsday.
