If I did him, I'd have him have already copied powers before coming to the city-perhaps damaged in a fight or a prototype? I understand what you're saying, though.

Hi, folks, founder and curator here. To answer your question, Meanken, I still do the accepting for all the entrants. But of course, I also value the wisdom of my delegate GM'stongue, and I agree with your summation on Amazo not getting much mileage.

Out of curiosity, who's the "too powerful" person he mentioned? And I'm still looking over some candidates-I'll have a list of possibles in just a little bit for your perusal, if that's ok?

Either Vandal Savage or Morgan Le Fay.

That would be Savage, yes. Morgan was the iffy person.

It might interest to know that there's been...well...versions of three of the characters you've mentioned so far, that've shown up as NPCs.

  • Evan McCulloch is currently working as Mirror Master in Jump City, after Sam Scudder vanished off the face of the earth in an incident involving an experimental antimatter mirror portal.
  • Nora Fries, after spending the usual time in an ice cube, was subject to an attempt by Black Panther and Tigra to cure her affliction. This, for ill-concieved and poorly explained reasons, wound up turning into a cheetah woman, who ran rampant for a while before being re-frosted.
  • Stanley Printwhistle hasn't gained his hellish powers (YET), but has spent some time unsuccessfully courting Aunt Minerva, until she got thrown in the slammer for abusing the children at her Orphanage of Fear.

Aw, c'mon, you can still use them! Mirror Master could potentially be pulled out of wherever he's gone, none of the people who were Cheetah in-comics have been so much as mentioned, and Lady Vic's a completely blank slate! The only ones who've had any real appearance to speak of are Nora!Cheetah and Printwhistle.

No, that's true, and a blank slate IS fun. I just spent some time writing up a whole IBAC sheet, but writing practice is never wasted. grin

I'll consider a few more, but if no lightbulbs come on I'll start of Lady Vic. Would there be any harm in weaving her into the Farnsworth/Union Jack family, or do you think I should just leave her be?

Name: Steel Serpent

Real Name: Davos

Gender: Male

Age: Appears to be in his late 20s to early 30s, actually much older

Appearance: in costume, with a panel including his face

Alignment: Villain

Personality: The phrase that might best describe Davos would be "boundlessly arrogant" if it weren't for the fact that he actually has the skills and power to back up his attitude and then some. He's sharply aware of the fact that he's one of the best martial artists on Earth and possessed of abilities that most mortal men lack while hardly being afraid to demonstrate his superiority to those around him. Davos has always insisted that fate had great things in store for him, even if it has taken much longer than expected for those great things to come to him. Because of this he can be a very bitter and angry man, still wounded by his loss to and perceived betrayal by his former best friend Wendell Rand-Kai, his rejection by Shou-Lao the Undying, the disappointment from his own father Lei Kung the Thunderer and his banishment from K'un-L'un.

Davos may see himself as a peerless , but this doesn't mean he's above trickery or pragmatism and he'll justify all such trickery as "cunning befitting a true Champion of K'un-L'un'". Decades in the mortal world have made him harder, smarter and more ruthless than ever he was in K'un-L'un, and he's become determined that if he cannot take his place in fate's design by right, he will take it by force.

Powers and Abilities: Master Martial Artist and Assassin-The Steel Serpent is arguably one of the most skilled martial artists on Earth, having mastered all of the martial arts of K'un-L'un and many of Earth's. He is a master of all traditional martial arts weaponry and weapon arts, and generally has received an incredibly high level of training. Coupled with that, he has decades of practical experience in the mortal criminal underworld as an assassin and fighter, even disregarding his upbringing to make use of firearms at times.

Chi Manipulation-As part of his training in K'un-L'un Steel Serpent was taught to manipulate his own personal life force energy or chi for a variety of effects. Through use of his Chi Steel Serpent can temporarily boost his speed, reflexes, strength, durability, agility, endurance, senses and healing to superhuman levels. In addition his training with Chi enables him to use a sixth sense of sorts that allows him to sense various forms of energy as well as a killing intent or danger before the fact and react to them. In addition, due to his incomplete bond with Shou-Lao the Undying Steel Serpent can sense the presence and location of anyone possessed of the chi of Shou-Lao.

Energy Absorption and Serpent Sting- Davos is able to absorb the chi or life force of others and use it to fuel his own abilities through his broken mystical bond with the Heart of the Dragon seeking out other sources of chi to draw upon. In addition he has devised the Serpent Sting, a technique somewhat mimicking the Iron Fist and the fires of Shou-Lao in order to generate massive amounts of concussive force and also mystical fire while making his fists practically invulnerable. Unlike the Iron Fist however, Davos must draw on his own chi and the chi he absorbs in order to power the technique, though his Serpent Gauntlets increase the power of the technique.

Bodily Control and Training-Steel Serpent has been trained in K'un-L'un to have full control over his body, able to deaden himself completely to pain, slow down the effects of poison and drugs on his body, slow down his breathing and his heart-rate to undetectable levels, slow his own bleeding and even control his body's temperature and energy output among other things. In addition his body has been trained to the peak of human ability in all aspects in his time in K'un-L'un.

Mental Training-Steel Serpent has been trained in K'un-L'un to recognize and shrug off various forms of mental influence and control. In addition he has been trained to quickly analyze and adapt to any combat situation or environment.

Weapons and Equipment: Davos is a master of numerous martial arts weapons and has even used firearms in the past, but for the most part he puts his trust in his own body far above most other weapons. The only usual exception to this are his Serpent Gauntlets, a pair of talon-bladed gloves that enhance the power of his already formidable Serpent Sting so that it uses up less chi than it otherwise would. In addition, the talons themselves are quite sharp and magically reinforced.

Origin: Davos was once the favored son of K'un-L'un, child of Lei-Kung the Thunderer, weapons-master of K'un-L'un. He was regarded by many as the most likely candidate for position of the next Iron Fist, Champion of K'un-L'un. That all changed with the arrival of Wendell Rand, the outworlder. Rand saved the life of Lord Tuan, who was then the Yu-ti, the sorcerer-king of K'un-L'un. As reward for his life-saving service, Wendell was adopted into the Yu-ti's family as his son and became Wendell Rand-Kai. He quickly rose up to become one of the most competent trainee warriors of his generation and both Davos' fiercest rival and his closest friend.

Even until the final tournament to determine who would face the dragon Shou-Lao the Undying, the two were the closest of friends. But as everyone could have predicted, at the final stage of the challenges and tournament, things eventually came down to the two of them. The battle was long and difficult, but eventually Wendell was able to catch Davos at a disadvantage. Davos refused to admit defeat and insisted he could keep going, only for the Yu-Ti and Lei Kung the Thunderer to stop the fight and declare Wendell the winner. Davos felt that victory had been snatched from him along with his destiny, that the Yu-ti and Lei Kung had come to unfairly favor Wendell over himself, and he was determined to do something about it.

Davos sneaked out the day that Wendell was to face Shou-Lao the Undying and faced the dragon himself. Ultimately, he failed to become the Iron Fist and claim Shou-Lao's power though he was able to forge and incomplete connection due to how close he came, an unprecedented event in K'un-L'un's history. For his crime and his hubris he was banished from K'un-L'un to the mortal world, but not before learning that his former friend Wendell had refused the challenge for Shou-Lao's power and run away.

Now decades later, he has come to Hub City as much to amuse himself as to begin carving out something for himself in the mortal world. His vengeance on those that have wronged him has been long delayed, but Davos has plenty of time to kill.

Name: Cloak and Dagger

Real Name: Tandy Bowen (Cloak) and Tyrone 'Ty' Johnson (Dagger)

Gender: Tandy is female and Ty is male.

Age: Tandy is 16. Ty is 17.

Appearance: Here

Alignment: Good

Personality: Tandy is empathetic, compassionate, and optimistic, much as one would expect from a light-based hero. She can come across as sheltered or naive, but she's not stupid; she's just very quick to forgive and believe the best of people, something that has helped and hindered her in the past. She's more willing to embrace heroism than Ty, who mostly wants to be left alone. Tandy's not all sweetness and light- she frequently gets frustrated by the harshness of life and by Ty's overprotectiveness of her- but she has yet to lose her belief that people are inherently good, if she ever does, and she's just as protective of Ty as he is of her.

Ty is cynical (though he calls himself a realist), withdrawn, and sarcastic. He usually ends up reining Tandy in when she runs into danger, and he's a pragmatic, stabilizing influence on her. Ty's hardly malevolent or cruel, but he tends to think the worst of people, especially authority figures, and his straitlaced nature can come across as cold or even downright creepy. His experiences as Karkull's puppet have left him with severe issues, mostly relating to trust- if he can't trust himself, how can he trust others? Even so, he's good hearted and will ultimately do the right thing in the end.

Both have been worn down by everything that's happened to them. They're doing their best to hold it together, and there's a good deal of codependency in their relationship. If anything were to happen to either of them, there's a good chance the other would either have a complete emotional breakdown or go on a rampage (or both).

Powers and Abilities: Tandy's body is semi-incorporeal and made of light. Because of that, she can become intangible and levitate herself (nobody has ever seen her use a door or walk since becoming Cloak). In addition, she is able to teleport herself and others, though the more people she transports and the greater the distance, the more winded she gets. Due to her nature as a being of light, Tandy frequently runs the risk of being overcharged, and Ty's shadow daggers are likely the only thing capable of draining off the excess light.

Ty has a mystical connection to the Darkforce that he uses to manifest psionic shadow daggers. These daggers travel wherever he wills them, and those struck by them aren't hurt physically- rather, they're suddenly highly disoriented (the exception being Tandy, who, as stated before, needs the daggers to prevent getting overcharged), though the exceptionally stubborn can overcome this to a degree. Ty's daggers pass through non-organic matter, which means they can't be blocked but also puts him at a disadvantage when fighting non-human opponents.

Previously, their power sets were reversed, though Tandy still had light powers and Ty still had darkness powers. Their current abilities are the result of Oscorp experimentation, but are mystical in nature.

Both Tandy and Ty are decent hand to hand fighters, and what they lack in training they make up for in pragmatism and pure viciousness.

Origins: Tandy and Ty were eight and nine, respectively, when they first met in a foster home and became inseparable. Tandy's wealthy but neglectful mother, Melissa Bowen, had recently died and her father, Nathan Tyler, had run off to India with the family fortune, while Ty had been in the foster system his whole life and had already been separated from his twin sister Anna.

When Tandy was fifteen and Ty was sixteen, the possibility of Tandy being adopted came up, and the duo decided to run away together rather than risk being separated. They ended up on the streets of New York City, where they accepted an offer of shelter for the night by Simon Marshall, an Oscorp scientist who needed lab rats for his experiments with the Darkforce. Tandy and Ty were just two of the runaways subjected to days of miserable conditions, mysterious nightmares, and hourly exposure to Darkforce energy.

A month later, all of the runaways were dead, save for Ty, Tandy, and the man who would later be known as Mr. Negative. Ty became a being of pure shadow energy with a connection to the Darkforce dimension, while Tandy gained the ability to create healing daggers of light. Now calling themselves Cloak and Dagger, they became vigilantes, but Ty's connection to the Darkforce left him hearing voices and vulnerable to possession by the demon Karkull. Under Karkull's influence, he stole electrical equipment and built a portal to destroy Doctor Fate, but he was stopped by Tandy and a group of NY heroes.

Karkull was purged from Ty, but the voices remained, and a desperate Cloak and Dagger accepted an offer from Simon Marshall to remove their powers. The process instead switched their power sets, and Marshall disappeared. After switching codenames, Cloak and Dagger tracked him down to Hub City to get him to remove their powers- and if he couldn't do it, then they intend to make sure he never hurts anyone ever again.

Name: White Rabbit
Real Name: Jaina Dodson
Gender: Female
Age: Mid 20s
Appearance: Apperance as Jaina Dodson; Appearance of the White Rabbit.
Alignment: Bad/Evil. Though not motivated by personal gate, racism or any particularly dark thoughts, Jaina as the White Rabbit is completely unrestrained by morals and will do anything she thinks would be 'fun', 'interesting' or 'thrilling'.
Personality: Jaina is the ego to the White Rabbit's id. Most of the times, she is refined, though she can be flirtatious and caustic. She's a lover of the arts, enjoys puzzles, board and card games and craves the 'aha' moment found at the end of solving riddles. Besides that, she is a runner and a dancer, and there is never a time that she feels more free than when the wind is at her back.
The White Rabbit wouldn't just be the id to Jaina's ego, the White Rabbit would be a "super id" to Jaina's ego. Completely uncaring about what others need or want, the White Rabbit wants only what will make it happy and interested in the short term. She cares very little about whether she lives or dies, considering her life is entirely linked to Jaina's, but is at least somewhat cautious to keep Jaina from dying. The White Rabbit loves the thrills of being chased, chasing things and the feeling of defying expectations.
Powers and Abilities:

  • Biofission: Jaina is able to split into two beings; a slightly more refined version of herself, and the unhinged White Rabbit.
  • Fusion: White Rabbit: Jaina and the White Rabbit are able to reform into one being, provided they are in physical contact with each other. Any injuries not shared by them when they merge back together are purged. If the White Rabbit is killed while seperate from Jaina, the White Rabbit will disintegrate and merge back with Jaina over the course of the next forty-eight hours.
  • Trackstar Athletics: Jaina is very fast, and even in heels she is able to outrun most people. The same goes for the White Rabbit.
Weapons and Equipment:
  • Guns Galore: Jaina has a large collection of guns, dating back to the 1840s at least. From her Wild West styled revolvers, early Civil War rifles and muskets to her World War II submachine guns and machine guns to her more modern collection of pistols, Jaina had quite a few guns at her disposal for any situation; though a bit over half of them might be too old to work in any given situation.
  • Rocket Boots: Jaina has several sets of rocket boots, purchased through illicit channels with money gained from her inheritance. Though not reliable and often breaking down after just a few minutes of use, they can provide a surprise factor and help escape from roof top to roof top.
History: Jaina was born in Chennai, to an American diplomat and a local Indian model. Despite early aspirations towards athletics, her mother pushed her towards a path of being a 'proper,' 'noble' woman and stifled her more active interests. To escape from this, Jaina began exploring her father's impressive library. In it, she found a book called Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland; soon after, her father gave her his personal copy of Through the Looking Glass.

Jaina found her escape in these books, for a long time, and developed an imaginary friend she called the White Rabbit. Onto her, she pushed the tendencies her mother described as 'unladylike', and soon her imaginary friend blossomed into one of the key elements of her life. With her, she began her own adventures and found her own 'Wonderland'.

Jaina grew up, and outwardly she became the proper lady her mother and father wanted. They moved to the United States of America, her father's home country, and Jaina soon assimilated into the American culture and way of life. Despite her mother's wishes, she joined with her school's Track team, and after putting a lot of work into it, she became one of the city's front runners in it. Pleased with her success, even if it wasn't in a more ladylike field, her father hired tutors; her mother, on the other hand, distanced herself from Jaina.

It wasn't meant to be nurtured forever, though. With her graduation from high school and intent to move onto college under an Athletic scholarship, her father stepped in and moved to get her life back on course by marrying her to a rich businessman friend of his. "You'll want for nothing," he said to Jaina, and at the age of twenty she was married to Lewis Dodson.

Unlike his namesake Lewis Carroll, this seventy year old Lewis Dodson had none of the whimsy, charm nor excitement Jaina craved. More and more, she began to venture out from his house, until she had all but disappeared completely from his life, siphoning more and more money away from his bank accounts on expensive flings, gambling, street races and guns. Mr. Dodson called her father, to try and get Jaina to move back 'in line' and return to the status of a trophy wife he had craved.

Her father agreed, and Jaina's mother and father moved for an intervention at the Dodson house. Jaina sat through their intervention and agreed to their demands; two months later, however, Lewis Dodson was found dead in his home. It was ruled an accidental death, and Jaina became a very rich widow.

Over the course of the next few years, she searched and searched for more and more thrilling ways to spend her time. Her imaginary friend, the White Rabbit, began to resurface as almost an alterego for herself; she began using it as a code name and as a stage name. A friend offered to connect her with a shady doctor, who was offering to unlock the X-Gene in people for the low price of a ten thousand dollars a head. Naturally, Jaina accepted.

Her X-Gene was unlocked by the doctors, and her power surfaced. She split into two beings; one was herself, and the other the image of her long time imaginary friend, the White Rabbit. A sinister grin spread over her face, and a crime spree broke out within the city. The White Rabbit continued to escalate from small level crime, while Jaina began to use her husband's financial to swoop in and offer aid to areas the White Rabbit hit, until the White Rabbit found its true target in the area: Jaina's parents.

A bloody murder and a few million dollars later, Jaina and the White Rabbit moved on from the little town they had been staying in and to Hub City. The White Rabbit craved the thrill of fighting with the baddest of the bad, and Jaina was realizing that she did as well.

  • Name: Black Kinght
  • Real Name: Nathan "Nate" Garrett
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Late 30s-40s?
  • Appearance: Oh so evil
  • Alignment: Evil
  • Personality: He can be very kind and professional to his friends and other scientists.
  • Powers and Abilities: None
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Body Armor: The Black Knight wore a lightweight full-body suit of electrically-insulated steel-alloy chainmail that protected him from projectiles like 45-caliber bullets at close range; however, it didn't protect him from a long fall. Also, his helmet visor could emit a bright light to blind foes temporarily. The suit weighed about 60 pounds.
    • Flying Horse: The Black Knight rode a black stallion, which he gave wings and power of flight through genetic engineering. The horse was able to lift aloft about 270 pounds beyond its own weight, and could fly at a top speed about 50 miles per hour for up to one hour before needing to rest. His name is Elendil.
    • Power Lance: The Black Knight's principal weapon was his atomic-powered Power Lance, which was rigged with a number of offensive technological devices.
      • Thermal Beam: The lance could emit an acetylene-based heat beam intense enough to melt through a two-foot thick steel wall at fifty feet within seconds.
      • Ionic Energy Blast: The lance could emit powerful electrical charges that could disable electronics.
      • Force Blast: The lance could project electro-magnetic concussive beams of charged alpha particles exerting a concussive force sufficient to blast through a foot-thick wall of cinderblocks at fifty feet in four seconds. The maximum effective range of the power blaster was about 100 feet.
      • Bolo Cables: The lance contained two spools of eight-inch thick' conductive steel cable, fifty feet in length, which the Knight sometimes attached to bolo bells. The firing mechanism was a linear accelerator (magnetic cannon), which shot the cable through the lance, Especially when connected to bolo balls, the ends of the cable were weighted in such a way that the cable tended to wrap around a person or object like a bolo.
      • Lasso: The lance could fire a rope as a lasso.
      • 45 caliber machine gun:
      • Buzz Discs: The Knight could use the lance to fire red-hot spinning metal discs as weapons.
      • Sappers: The Knight could use the lance to fire super-heated metal "doughnuts" which affixed themselves to objects and drained electrical energy from them.
    • Paralyzer Pistol: The Black Knight also carried a "paralyzer pistol" that emitted a highly concentrated, fast-acting nerve gas capable of rendering an average human being unconscious in two seconds for one hour in small doses. A sufficient dose of the nerve gas could kill a human being through paralysis of the respiratory system
  • Origin: Dr.Nathan is the descendant Sir Percy of Scandia, the famous knight of the round table. He is a world renowned genetic researcher that has traveled all over the world. He inherited the family castle, Garrett Castle, and when he went there he met the spirit of his ancestor, Sir Percy. He proved unworthy to be Sir Percy's successor to the Black Knight mantle when he failed to pull the Ebony Blade out of its' scabbard. Nathan later moved to the United states after his sister moved there. He later became the new Black Knight using advanced technology which he personally created and using his expertise in genetic modification he created a winged horse to use.
