speaking of backgrounds, is it just me or do the buildings in the trailer stem more realistic and less cartoon-y than they are in the games?

While I also think the trailer looks good (other than the usual eerily empty streets), resorting to the Lets See You Do Better defense is beyond sad.

A hackneyed response for an overblown comment. Fair's fair.

Alternately, let's see you come up with a better defense. tongue

Hey, I did elaborate. A little. And then stuff came up and I couldn't finish. Until now. So I'll just go ahead and say I like the way Sly moves, his facial expressions are great, and — as mentioned previously — his fur looks pretty good. Not really enough there to call it "disgusting," by any means.

[up]It's not the details. It's the shape. And proportions.

You will never get my point.

Certainly not if you don't try to explain it.

I'm sincerely curious. What is it you see in this trailer that prompts you to label its art as disgusting?

A completely human body with a very animal head on top, with no transition or blending of the two, makes me cringe.

You mean like this?

Looking at the artwork for each game, they seem to have been rather inconsistent. In 1 and 4, Sly seems to be digitigrade but in 2 and 3 (and the movie) he appears to be plantigrade. Aside from that, he seems to have always been humanoid.

Or is it the clothes? They did give him pants for the movie, which is understandable, I guess. But it probably doesn't help with the transition issue.

If it's an uncanny valley thing, I can understand. I don't really see it myself, but that line tends to be a bit different for everyone anyway. I thought you were going to go off on the movie not being cel-shaded or something (some people have apparently popped an aneurysm over that).

Hasn't it been a while since there's been a sly cooper game? I think the first game came out almost 20 years ago

There was a PS 3 one, I'm fairly certain.

Actually even closer in time than 2012. It came out in 2013 in February. So it's only been a little over a year since the last one came out.
