First, I am not a Brit, just a sci fi junkie. I'd always heard of this show and assumed it was the British version of Star Trek but the more I heard the more I was interested. So I watched the whole series, and it was awesome! It's an epic struggle between a band of freedom fighters in a high-powered abandoned alien battleship and a totalitarian "Federation" based on Earth and its colonies.

It's very "Spacey," and can be campy, but the characters are just so fun to watch interacting. The cast changes periodically but the mission to subvert the Federation continues.

There were 4 seasons. The last episode was a cliffhanger, and a major, tragic shocker. I highly recommend this show for anyone who likes subversive science fiction like Lexx or Farscape. In a way, this show was the original Farscape.

It really was. It's amazing how many shows this went on to directly influence. Between it, Lexx, Farscape and Firefly, there's a veritable sub-genre about criminals running around the galaxy in erratic (and occasionally erotic) spaceships.

Did you hear about the potential remake?

Yeah but they've been talking about a potential remake for years. I'm skeptical.

Well a remake has had been a genuine possibility, rather than a pipe dream, since Doctor Who proved successful. Survivors got remade first and floundered, dampening the chances for Blakes 7. Then Outcasts did damage to any future BBC sci fi projects.

What would be the point of a remake, though? I don't even imagine there'd be a lot of money in it.

You could maybe do Blake's 7: The Next Generation, but... eh. The original is great for what it is (or rather, it had a handful of great episodes amongst an ocean of mediocrity), but I can't see what continuing it would accomplish.

Mind you, people probably said that about Battlestar Galactica, and that remake turned out fairly well. Mostly. So, hrm.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.
