Nickelodeon's bringing Paddington Bear back onto the TV scene with Ben Whishaw, who voiced the eponymous bear in the live-action movies!
I believe Nick used to run the original, Filmation Star Trek cartoon in the 80s.
If they're going to put CBS properties on Nick now, how about doing something new with the Terrytoons characters?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."..... it's been over a decade and only NOW do they realize they can make Spongebob spin-offs!?
To be fair they probably felt they had no need,it was that popular
New theme music also a boxLess than ethused by Spongebob spinoff. That Bear show looks interesting tho
The Paddington show looks like it could be good and and the art-style's cute. The description means it's obviously headed to Nick Jr.
I'm kind of curious as to what sort of spin-off you could do with SpongeBob, though. What would be the premise be and who would even be the main character? Plankton? Squidward? Heck, Pearl?

"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Worst case scenario would be Patchy. Also, it's weird to think of Star Trek as a Nickelodeon thing.
It's been 3000 years…I think Patchy would be the best candidate for a SpongeBob spinoff, actually. I know that apparently his whole character and his live-action shorts aren't popular with fans of the show; but for me, I thought the scenarios of his segments could work well enough as its own standalone property, and they had a peculiar sense of surreal humor that I felt were good extensions from the usual comedy of the main show. I'd also say his post-movie segments are usually better highlights than the actual post-movie seasons/episodes.

has a clue, but it's usually not the correct one 0.55% of the timePatchy isn't popular? I thought everyone loved him.
I hope this spinoff ends up being longer-lasting than All Grown Up.
From what I can tell, Patchy's pre-first movie bits (i.e. from "Party Pooper Pants", "Shanghaied", "SpongeBob's 'SPONGEBOB BETRAYED US' Lost Episode") are pretty well-liked, but most of his post-first movie material (i.e. "Atlantis Squarepantis", "Truth or Square") has been middling at best and completely unbearable at worst.
I'd be down for a Patchy spin-off so long as it captures the charm of his older material.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Would anyone be intrested in a Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn Reboot?
I didn't even realize that the show had ended until just now.
And it literally just ended last August, which I feel is waaaaaay too short of a time to warrant a reboot, unless of course the show was unbearably awful and needed to start again from scratch, which it didn't seem like it was. I feel like a show needs to rest for a few years before a reboot would make sense.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Pretty much everything post-movie is unpopular. It's not Patchy himself, it's the writing.
Ding Dong the Spongebob Standard is dead!!!

I like this new boss already.
Too little too late for over a decade of quality and semi-quality material, but I guess better late than never in a general sense.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Apparently Ren And Stimpy has finally returned to the Splat's regular schedule.
Anyone else heard about this?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Spongebob spin-offs.
I don't know how to feel about that. Haven't watched the show actively in probably 10 years now, so it's out of my demographic.
At the same time, I'm on the internet and I have an obligation to be unhappy about matters relating to old TV shows that don't really concern me.
I could see a Sandy spin-off, sort of. She'd need a proper send-off in the show proper though. IIRC she's been What Happened to the Mouse? on the show for awhile now. She used to be Spongebob's best friend and now she's barely got an episode to her name. She's just wacky enough, yet different enough from Spongebob that I could see her heading her own show. Thing is, following her continued adventures underwater while not having her be within Spongebob's atmosphere would feel wrong. Sticking her above-water, too, would feel wrong.
Squidward absolutely cannot have a spin-off. His dynamic with Spongebob forms a core part of Spongebob's premise. I could already see them screwing this up by having Squidward become the premise of an art college somewhere, surrounding himself with like-minded individuals and slowly starting to realize that Spongebob's influence has put him at odds with his peers.
Patrick is too thick-headed to have a show. Remember Planet Sheen? Let's not make that mistake again.
Plankton getting a spin-off where he's less of a douche could be interesting. But, then, Krabs loses his major nemesis. Like Squidward I think he's too tethered to Spongebob's setting to be given a spin-off.
Same problem with Mr. Krabs. Plus he's too mired in his greed to be a fleshed-out protagonist.
All of this could be ignored and new writers could come in and totally define new paths for these characters to follow.
But I doubt it. I've never seen a good cartoon spin-off.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!This is the problem. The characters are all created to only work in relation to Spongebob in some way, and they'd need to really think of a new cast of characters with great chemistry in order for this spin-off to work. Sandy is probably the one that can be a good enough fit for her own show.
Mostly because wacky science adventures is a premise that can hold down a show on it's own.
Wonder Park now boasts a 27% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

I don't think the movie can possibly be that bad. I hope I can see it soon.
Also, Wonder Park has no credited director due to some controversy.
Not to be confused with the other upcoming Star Trek animated series for CBS All Access ("Lower Decks"), a new Star Trek series is potentially in the works for Nickelodeon according to Variety.
Writers Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters, Hotel Transylvania, Ninjago) are also attached to the project, but we don't know its plot yet.
