Eli Roth is the name everyone will recognise, I suppose. Unfortunately.
Well, this film looks ludicrous, but it might be good for a self-aware laugh, I suppose. What I'm wondering is how Peter Stormare lets himself get tied to films like this. He seriously deserves better.
I don't think it looks too bad, even though I had the impression the guys who made the fake trailer had no intention of creating an actual feature. As a gorehound, I'll probably take some level of amusement from the results.
I like Roth. I bumped into him and spoke with him briefly a few months ago regarding the other film he produced, Aftershock. It's nice to see him giving others the chance to get projects made—I hear he sees franchise potential in this one, and seeing as how he's already creating a sequel to one of his films that hasn't even been released yet, more demon clown is highly possible. Whether the film justifies it remains to be seen.
As for Stormare, I assume that he, like Lance Henriksen, can't say no to a project.
I don't think much of Roth - quite frankly, I think that films like Cabin Fever and Hostel are the main reason horror films these days are moving away from being genuinely scary and just becoming cheap, semi-comedic gorefests - but if he can pull off an unironic Monster Clown film well, my respect for him might go up a little. Suppose I should give it a chance.

A couple years ago, I might agree(as I said, I dig some splatter), but I think that horror has largely swung away from that recently, save the odd indie like Inbred or something here and there. The two biggest genre films of 2013 were ghost stories that were almost entirely bloodless.
I haven't seen a really gruesome and goofy horror film in theaters in a couple years, aside from Texas Chainsaw. Which was awful.
As the guy who had a Chucky avatar for a while, I like that they're seemingly playing a premise as silly as "guy accidentally puts on demon's skin" totally straight.
The film has premiered in the UK and is available on DVD as of March 2nd, 2015. Still no news of a US release...
I've seen it. Wasn't terribly impressed by it in spite of a few effective scenes (especially the part at the Suck E. Cheese's) and some good gore effects. The victims being children might put some viewers off.
For a movie about a demonic clown, there weren't any Insane Clown Posse songs used. A wasted opportunity in that regard.

Oh hey, somebody else has seen Inbred. Cool.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?BUMP!
I have my reasons for doing this. Clown will finally hit the US next week (despite the fact that I saw it a year ago).
But in the meantime, here's an interview with Eil Roth to promote the release. My favorite part is that we won't be getting a sequel thanks to those wacky pirates.
Based on a fake trailer which is now a real film, produced by Eli Roth...
I find it a pity that this trailer says, "From Eli Roth" and not "From the writer of Robot and Frank".
