I'm kind of impressed by the HUGE GIANT HAND Manaka was resting in.

I hope it doesen't end like Naru Taru.

Ahhh, on one hand I'm happy because Manaka's back, and it's always better when people don't die and stuff. On the other hand the Miuna shipper inside me is struggling to breathe...

[up] It's all good. Manaka's return is the only thing that can break the plot open.

Episode 18: That is a hauntingly beautiful underwater ghost town.

  • Yet another reason to discourage running with toast in your mouth.
  • Really? They just left Miuna there? Hikari could haven taken her along to see her granddad, at least! Ah, well, at least that left us with a scene of Miuna munching on Pocky in a really cute way.
  • Had to recalibrate my sense of physics. It's been a while.
  • Classic talking to the comatose scene.
  • Dang, a graveyard of Wooden Maidens. With one real maiden smack in the middle. On a... giant hand. Err.
  • Lord Uroko can't seem to stay still. Might be a sign of how weak the sea god's become.

Well then. On to the meatier stuff. Consider what Uroko said: "When something appears, something else is lost. The obvious scenario of course is that Manaka's Ena has been transferred to Miuna. The big question is why.

One thing to note is that Manaka longed for the surface, while Miuna wanted to become a merperson. The Sea God could be granting their wishes.

Manaka could have also been producing Ena for the Ena-less, and Miuna happened to get it first because she had the genes lying around. Which would mean the Sea God is benevolent and trying to save everyone.

Or maybe the Sea God really did want blood. But then Miuna getting Ena wouldn't make sense.

...I'm gonna need some time to chew on this.

Episode 19. In which there are true friends.

You know, if you get lost like that, wouldn't it be easier to swim up a bit so you can see father?

Gotta agree with Akari. Good outfit.

Wonderful to see Chisaki happy about something. And something for viewers to be happy about too. She also doesn't need to be concerned about it being a tight fit. Growing isn't bad.

Chisaki trying to act like an adult makes her far more childish than she usually is. Which is cute. And very much like real teenagers.

Gotta say, the best part of the episode is Chisaki swimming with Hikari. And that's in tough competition.

Aw c'mon!

Even after growing up Chisaki still likes Hikari, and now Tsumugu also likes her?

Is this universe moved by unrequited love or something?!

Even the legend of the sea god is a unrequited love story!

It's sort of amusing that all but 1 person seem to understand the Love Dodecahedron, and...that's enough to keep anything from happening.

Mostly, people tend to be unaware of the people who're interested in them, unless they make it obvious. Other parts of the polyhedron are usually either known or just irrelevant to the person.

But I don't think it's the lack of knowledge that keeps things from happening. It's that people aren't capable of moving on unless what they move on from is set in stone.

Episode 20. In which Miuna doubts herself.

Chisaki sure knows how to make an enchanting entrance. Accidentally.

Knowing what you want to say and actually saying it are two different animals.

Thinking pragmatically. By taking advice from fairy tales. Well, considering there are actual gods, I wouldn't call that out of the realm of reason.

Miuna looks great with loose hair. I've mentioned that before. And does that mean they all (or at least Miuna and Manaka) actually have the same hair colour, just that it's animated differently?

Smart mother is smart.

"Hii-kun! You're not supposed to get that mad at girls!" I recognise that voice.

"Uweh?" I think that's how you write that sound.

Episode 20: Miuna looks good with her hair down. Something nice to look at while we're treated to her mediocre pondering about her love life.

Look at that cute drawing of "Wake up, Manaka!" Probably Akira's, d'awww.

Well it's nice to see Hikari be dazzled by Chisaki's beauty, if only for a short while.

It's great that Manaka woke up just because. "Uweh?" evil grin The flirting bickering before that was good too.

[up][up] Miuna does look good with her hair down. I don't think they have the same color. I think it was just dark and Hikari was tired. He probably would have noticed the lack of ear-gill-things-that-only-Manaka-has if he was awake .

UFTW (Uweh! FTW!)

Sayu's plan worked! Indirectly. Maybe. If she wouldn't have woken up anyway.

Episode 21. In which there's happiness.

She's just like Hikari. Not seeing any change in Chisaki.

Some water fights are just not fair. But it was nice seeing it.

I think Hikari summed it up well: "She's so full of energy."

It's as they say. It's easiest to wake up last, when there's no one to miss.

I can relate. If you eat different tastes in the wrong order, it's going to taste weird. Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's not.

Kinda of amusing when they talk about bribing a divine being with porn mags. Especially when they think it might actually work.

And it seems they might just get the chance to try.

This is why I missed Manaka. She has like twice the expression range of anyone else. She had a ton of great facial expressions here. Kinda reminds me when my sister came up for Christmas from Florida. Her kids never seen snow. They were kinda like that.

I like the op changes, esp the umbrella.

What do yo know, someone who slept for 5 years....is actually well rested after that. Go figure.

Didn't know he could do that. curse landers that is

I hope they try bribing him. Just...because. Maybe they will just use one to sneak past him.

Ok, WTF is up with the destroyed elevated highways in the background all the time? It's supposed to be some sort of far post-apocalyse I guess?

I have a feeling at the end of the series Manaka will go back to being Ojoshi-sama to stop the disasters and all the triangles will be cleaned up. The surface people will win at the end.

Episode 22. In which information is dumped.

You know, it's a little bit rude to just run away like that after finding out she's lost her memory. Got a good risk of hurting her.

Oroko is always so smug. Knows what people are thinking and such. Which surprisingly makes him seem almost like an actual god.

By the way, I really like his hair.

So, we now have an explanation for most things. Just like that. Considering the amount of episodes left, it kind of feels like that's what's going to be solved, and that's it. More or less. Romantically there are a lot of threads hanging, as we've mentioned before, and it seems about appropriate to start working on the ends of those.

I can see the ending! (sorry, had to be said) it's fairly obvious what the best resolution is, it just depends on how stubborn people are. Although....can Manaka go back? Without ena can she even dive deep enough to make it?

[up] I would agree, but I think she's tougher than that.

They should remember to amend the legend slightly Only sacrifice statues to the Sea God. While not her fault, it started because Hikari's sister(Akira?) decided to be Ojoshi-sama.

I wonder if they go for the twist And have Miuna be the one who goes back to the sea. I mean, her ena was the one thing that was only kinda explained. I can see her having another meaning also...I.e. proving that the sea doesn't always lose people.

Episode 23. In which the waves start rolling in.

Miuna's doing a relatively good job of acting like the mature one.

"Only I can call him stupid." But other than that line, I'm going to agree with her.

"You were saying it the other day." I like those references to the past time.

I find that pendant to be a little too neat.

That's way too convenient timing.

Good choice of escape route.

Add another one to the depths.

Of all the things he could've said, that was probably a rather good choice. "You're like the sea," does say quite a lot, coming from him, to her.
