Reception so far is overwhelmingly negative. Doesn't bode well. It's still "early alpha" (suuure), but I sincerely hope they get their shit together.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.^? Huh? Worst problem I had was that game didn't have enough memory to start match if my browser was on <_< Since I have tons of tabs
Actual gameplay was pretty fun espicially, it was breath of fresh air to me. Did also realize that best way to play as monster is to sneak a lot :p
When will the alpha end? And how big is the game's file size? Just finally get my new PC fixed up...
Give me cute or give me...something?It ends today I think. Game is 13 Gb if I am not mistaken.
Awww darn, seems like that's too late for me. What a shame.
Give me cute or give me...something?I'm still confused about this "negative reception" thing, can someone explain me where that comes from? <_<
I gotta say, that may be one of the more intimidating monster designs xD
Beta on Xbox One next month, and single player mode announced.
It's arriving February 10th for sure.
Launch Necro!
Anyway, I'm on PC and Steam allowed an encrypted preload of ~30ish GB. The decryption keys were passed out at midnight. First launch of the game forces you into a Monster tutorial, then you can go on to the Hunter tutorial and main menu. Both offline AI and online multiplayer is available for all game modes, and progression and perks can be earned and used in either. The playable characters so far are 12 hunters and 3 monsters. Behemoth monster has yet to be added, with other hunters and monsters unannounced. The launch build is currently in poor condition, as the news feed was supposed to display "Welcome to Evolve," but most players often see an error in the feed instead. An hour into launch and I'm already sending 2K support tickets. One of the most annoying problems so far seems to be the coding/flags set for hiding the mouse cursor. In-game, the cursor seldom hides and instead you have to put up with the distraction of a useless cursor floating around while trying to aim. The poor Steam integration with overlay only aggravates the issue. While more rare, the opposite issue can occur, where the mouse cursor hides itself when you're not in-game, making menu navigation a chore.
Ignoring the cursor flopping about my screen, the gameplay and graphics are pretty damn solid.
Does the ending of Evacuation always end with a Bolivian Army Ending?
Hunters won 4 - 1 matches and it still ended with All the hunters being slowly surrounded by asstons of Monsters.

So, there's a problem with all of the skins and whatnot on the Steam version. Namely an obsession with ill-gotten money.

Yeah I feel dirty playing this game. And I RENTED it.
^^Ye, most of reviews say game is pretty good, but they dislike dlc stuff
And it was said by interviews that this game is basically intended to be dlc game <_< Which makes me wonder why the heck they keep base price as 50
^ From what I heard it's actually going to be F 2 P...I think. Makes it even worse.
Give me cute or give me...something?It's not f2p if you have to pay for a base
Having played the alpha, the game was already getting old in that short time span. Only in a bizarro world can I justify dumping 70 bucks on that game.
Don't get me wrong, the graphics were great, the gameplay was entertaining, but it's replayability is down the shitter.
About that DLC: look at the bright side. At least they're just skins and not a bunch of essential gameplay stuff that should have been in the game in the first place. From what I can tell, all the "important" stuff is in the Season Pass anyway, so this shouldn't really be a problem.
Then again, perhaps you have a problem with them selling a bunch of skins in the first place?
You could just level up to unlock skins like people used to do.
@Thorn
It depends on what round the loss occurred, because a "win" or "loss" in the first 4 rounds only generate advantages and handicaps for the next rounds, but the outcome of the final round is what determines the ending. So if the hunters win the first 4, but monster pulls off a win in the final round, the monsters win. If the monster wins the first 4, but gets taken out for the final round, the hunters win.
Having read the comments on this thread, Metacritic, and Reddit, I think I might've dodged a bullet on this one. From what I'm understanding, this game's concept is promising, but the "final" product seems to have been stripped away for DLC. Skin packs for $5?! Even Borderlands 2 had plenty of skins in its vanilla version without the purchase of DLC whatsoever. And given the dearth of beasts and characters, I'm not sure if this game's gonna last long in the online community...
Together, we are one.Played a few matches as the humans in the Beta, it was pretty dope. I'm not getting it right now due to the BS DLC policy, though, so I'll just wait it out for whenever it eventually goes on sale I guess.
That... sucked. I got a chance to play half a match.
