Color me intrigued, especially if the replayability is as good as Left 4 Dead.

We don't know much yet, but definitely keeping an eye on this one.

You had me at "Left 4 Dead IN SPACE!"

But seriously, this seems like it'll be worth keeping an eye on. Especially if they can make the multiplayer stuff as engaging as in Left 4 Dead.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

Hopefully they will figure out a way to keep the online community from turning into the L 4 Dead cesspool, though. The actual games are great, but jeez, the player community is as bad as Dota's, and that's really saying something.

Some sort of extended tutorial or practice mode for the srs bizniz game formats would help a bunch.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

Well, it doesn't sound like there'll be PVP right off the bat, so that helps with the attitude of the community a little bit.

Is the L4D community that bad tho? I haven't played in so long.

L 4 D has a nasty community. Once everyone figured out how to play VS on a competitive level, the game is now full of "pros" who will yell at anyone that screws up even once, vote to kick people out, claim hacks if they're losing, etc etc. There's always threads on how the survivors are OP or how there needs to be more special infected to kill survivors faster.

Plus griefing. With friendly fire on at all times, it's piss easy to shoot up your own team.

Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.

Well I just saw this trailer:

Interested in how the mechanics of 4 vs 1 will work out.

Not really liking how they went for the 'token black guy, token woman, and two white guys' thing again. If it was just how the dice happened to roll, okay, fine, but they've adhered to this very specific formula for three games now and it's irritatingly blatant. But it says you can unlock other characters on the site, so maybe you'll be able to change that up after a few matches.

I'm extremely skeptical of them being able to balance the game properly though. When you look at L 4 D, it works best as a coop game because the zombies are hopelessly underpowered in comp, when players communicate, know the maps and don't panic. Now if you take that formula and boil the zombies down to just one 'super zombie...' well, think about how many times we've seen survivors kiting a burning to death tank in L 4 D without ever taking a hit. Unless they change their philosophy on how to balance things, I'm foreseeing an extremely underpowered predator.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

I don't know if you start out with only the four characters they've shown unlocked or if you start off with two or three options for each class and can unlock more, but it's been confirmed that each class has multiple characters.

As for balance, it seems like a fully evolved Monster is nigh unstoppable.

Fire, air, water, earth...legend has it that when these four elements are gathered, they will form the fifth element...boron.

Finally looked at the trailer.

The cast's composition doesn't bother me much personally.

I am skeptical as well of the balance, but I think team human would be more at risk. At risk, that is, to die of boredom. I really hope the game isn't 15 minutes of walking around and 1 minute of fighting when you actually find the monster.

Apparently, there are multiple side objectives that benefit both parties. Multiple creatures and fauna that act as obstacles and some mini bosses that I heard provide bonuses to either the creature or the hunters depending on who slays them first, creating points of contention. It's a race for he monster to get bigger and badder as fast as he can and for the hunters to deny him the meals he needs to grow strong and get some buffs on their side as well.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Here. That article has a lot of fun information about the game.

This interview has a few more details. There will be more game modes, all based on the core concept of 4 vs 1, several different characters for each class, different objectives for each map, and so on. Looks promising.

Reading over all this, it's occurring to me that this is a Darker and Edgier Monster Hunter Recycled In Space with Pv P to make us Hunt The Most Dangerous Game.

This... This makes me happy in places.

Tho I doubt they will ever match the sheer satisfaction of using a hammer like the one in MH tri. Maybe that'll be the trapper's job. If so, I know my class!

The Dev's posted more info a couple of weeks ago. That particular monster (Goliath) is strong enough to stand up to the human players by level 2, and at level 3 is stronger than they are.

Read in finnish gaming magazine that the journalists who played game played the final match played against the developer(who was the monster) and developer apparently won in one and half minute by sneak killing them all one by one.

Dunno what that says about player skill xD

Another story from writer was him playing as the monster and luring(forgot whether it was on purpose or on accident) the human players to shoot at him from long distance which ended up on them shooting at npc gator monster thing which killed one of them.

Well, the monster can either run and hide to evolve, or take its chances and take out the hunters immediately. The latter is difficult, from what I understand.

Huh, one of pre order bonuses is "New monster character when it becomes available"?

So does that mean a skin or that in future there will be selection of other monsters than goliath?

If latter... SOLD :D

There's a complaint that the game is unbalanced - the monster is way too powerful right now, and can access parts of the map the hunters can't, etc. There's still a ton of balancing and testing to go.

^That doesn't really seem to matter considering monster's health doesn't seem to regen and it doesn't have much of a ranged attack <_<

At one point in video one of humans uses jetpack to get on top of really darn long pillar. I'd say that is more unfair unless the monster can climb to the top of it and even then guy could use jetpack to go to another. I'm not really sure what are the "unaccessible" areas
