I read very few Marvel books (Vision, Silver Surfer, Nighthawk), and having so many books all tie in to a storyline I have zero interest in prevents me from picking up more. I was interested in Ultimates, but don't have to have to read about Iron Man fighting Captain Marvel to understand the story.
Meanwhile DC is doing a Batman crossover that will only last 2 months in books I'm already reading because they're all great, and a Suicide Squad crossover also only lasting 2 months and only affects 2 books, and I can just ignore it because none of my books are involved. Smaller crossover that don't last as long are better for me.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.Sure, and I'll probably eventually get around to reading them, but you're basically telling me that they're good in spite of being tie-ins instead of good because of being tie-ins.
Or I could just stick with my DC comics. Nightwing is really great. Midnighter is coming back. Tom King is going to write Bane. Pat Gleason is drawing Superman. Thomas Scioli is going to write SUPER POWERS. I haven't been this excited about comics since Morrison's Batman & Robin. I feel bad complaining about anything in comics because things are so good.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer. At least this is a hero vs. villains event though I wonder which members the Squad will have to face off against the League.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Trying to argue semantics with me on the internet is probably the easiest way to guarantee I won't be reading something. Instead of showing how my concerns are wrong you're trying to tell me they don't matter.
You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.I'm not fond of Marvel's current state, I have to say. They just seem to be directionlessly yo-yoing through events, relaunches, and Happy Ending Overrides for the most part.
And an obsession with Marvel Cinematic Universe synergy...
And I like the Cinematic universe, even if it's lead to the push of the Inhumans and throwing the X Men under the bus.
One Strip! One Strip!I feel like the current state of Marvel - and I admit I'm just spitballing guesses here - has to do with the big Secret Wars event last year. This was an event that was clearly in the works for some time, definitely at least three years and likely at least five. So, my guess is that they planned out this event... but forgot to have a plan for what comes after. So they've just been throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks, and also everything HAS to synergize with the movies for some reason.
I don't think there's anything wrong with throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Sometime really great niche books come out of that. (Like All-Star Western in the New 52, Midnighter during DC You, or Vision and Nighthawk for Marvel right now).

You're just in time. Bayble Cuber's going to watch an inkle dribble adventure from days of old on my holo-pyramid viewer.Interesting tidbit from Baltimore Comic-Con:
So they might have finally learned their lesson with the New 52 (aside from the stupid idea to get rid of most of the legacies). They aren't just dumping everything out at the same time and hoping it does well — they've already put off Super Sons, so perhaps they are just seeing the best time it takes for it to do good numbers.
Honestly, I hope some of the unannounced books they are going to put out are fringe books, since those appear to be missing from DC Rebirth. Young Animal looks like it will do a good job with Vertigo-esque comics, but I would like DC Rebirth to do some fringe stuff, too, like Dial H or even a new Stormwatch (preferably better written than before).

Has DC’s Rebirth successfully redeemed the publisher’s past sins?

Steve Orlando tapped to write "Justice League of America." I like Steve Orlando, so I'm glad he's writing more than Supergirl and the Midnighter and Apollo mini-series. Since this JLA is different from the other Justice League, perhaps it will have Midnighter and Apollo in it?

He's also doing the Night of the Monster Men crossover between the Gotham books with their creative teams.
Finding myself nostalgic for Johns' GL today for some reason.
Steve Orlando is one of my new favorites, and he's perfect for JLA. Andy Khouri is editing too, much probably means the art will be really good. Can't wait to see the lineup. I'm expecting Martian Manhunter for sure, and I'm really hoping for post-Omega Men Kyle Rayner to be on the team.
I keep trying to get through Johns's GL run, but most of it is so boring to me. I've gotten up to right before Blackest Night, but the only part I've really liked was Secret Origin. Hal's origin is great, and his relationship with Carol Ferris is one of the most important things to make him likable. Its weird how all the recent GL writers have really downplayed it.

Particularly since, especially at DC, so many books nominally dedicated to one character are functionally team books.

I really want the current Superman and Titans Wally to interact and bond about the old timeline with Clark helping Wally fill in some gaps. Although it will be akward when/if Clark asks Wally what happened to Jai and Irey
Why do you do this to my emotions.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.
Wow. Now I want to see it too.
Hell, have him occasionally hang out with Clark and his family: the last remnants of an old world.
One Strip! One Strip!Well this Wally isn't technically the same one that had Jai and Irey. That one is, presumably, back in the pre-FP universe per Convergence.
Has Pre-Convergence Superman met with Mxyzptlk again? Ironically, he's maybe the one who could relate the most to his situation, depending on how is 5D reality/continuity working now.
its the same universe though just minus 10 years. They got returned and then got erased. Then wally was young again until abra kadabra stuck him in the speed force. Then he got out and remembered the old universe through speed force shenanigans. It also gave him white lightning.
Most of the Civil War II tie-ins, however, have been awesome.
