The first glimpse of the final CGI design of Maui, Dwayne Johnsons' character, has been revealed.
It's nice to see Wreck-It Ralph is back.
Speaking of the Rock. Irrelevant except for it's the Rock, who's always relevant.
"It's nice to see Wreck-It Ralph is back. " <This is sarcasm?
Moana has officially been cast! Her voice actor is going to be a Native Hawaiian, Auli'i Cravalho.
My congratulations to her! And my condolences to everyone else. Seriously, there are TONS of audition videos all over YouTube and very many I liked. Hopefully they can go far someday in their own time too.
Nice to see a Disney heroine who's actually voiced by an actress of her age, as opposed to a 30 year-old trying to sound 16.
Am I the only one who doesn't have a huge problem with Maui's design? I think it is OK.
I have no problem with it, if that's what y'all think I was implying. I was just amused by the similarities. More likely they were evoking Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Maui looks like Rapunzel.
Oh, trust me, people are already throwing that old canard out there even though they're wrong.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectPoppycock they're wrong. Rapunzel and Maui are like twins separated at birth.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! You know what I meant.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMaui looks like what would happen if Gantu and Wreck-It-Ralph had a secret lovechild...
Necroing the thread to unveil...first footage! .....Sort of!
Nice!
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Yeah where ARE we getting this footage all of a sudden??
-looks it up-
....my goodness Disney. Just show us footage of the movie instead of plugging the voice actors, still images, and Disney idols or whatever they are.

Hey, there was some footage in there.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectNecroing this thread again because...
Coming straight from The Rock himself, the first trailer's coming this Sunday!
Holy shit! Finally!
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I'll be interested to hear the songs, seeing how they'll be written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights and Hamilton).
Wait, REALLY? Says who?
His twitter was linked a couple of pages ago. It's also listed on the wikipedia and imdb pages.
......... his style isn't exactly what I would call Disney. ...then again, I thought the same about Randy Newman in 1995, so shows what I know!
... man he must've been ACHING to announce this for ages!
Phillipa Soo (Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton co-star) just joined the cast too. Not sure how big her role is but I'm excited to hear more of her voice!

I'm really glad Disney has returned to Broadway for inspiration on their feature film musicals, which influenced who to hire for their composers and actors.
I think it's clued to be Aotearoa, but much like Frozen being set in ambiguous "Norway" Moana may be set in ambiguous "Aotearoa".
Of course, some parts of the island Moana comes from feel a bit more tropical than New Zealand. A tumblr post pointed out that some of the clothes also resembled Tongan and Tahitian clothing so they also might be "inspired" locations.
I'm having to learn to pay the price
