Spacebattles 'Entry with a Bang' doesn't so much go off the rails as rip them up and melt them down and forge a new branch of idiocy.... ahem.
Wait. What. I typo'd and accidentally created a second profile? Fix it.Have you ever heard of "Back To The Frollo", one of the worst fanfictions of all time? Well, the author of that once got in on what may be the only Hunchback Of Notre Dame round robin in existence, and fucked it up because the characters didn't act like "her characters". You would not believe the bitching and complaining...
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."Some of us from the MLP thread are doing this intentionally. Each writer is only allowed to read the chapter immediately preceding theirs, and derailings are encouraged. The entire original premise is a crack ship, for bonus points.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers. That depends of your definition of "bad". I found it enjoyable, but the acrimonious discussions between some of the writers for nearly everything were pretty tiresome.
No, I haven't heard of it. But it seems par the course for a Small Name, Big Ego person.
That is a different thing from what I was asking, more like what Jixmenow said. Like the author pushing his favourite ship/ Alternate Character Interpretation /Fanon and justifying with inane arguments, or not justifying at all("you are not a true fan, because you don't see it as I see it").

Allow me to explain this weirdo author by explaining what her fanfiction.net profile is like.
Any old author can write "I'm Alice Author, and these are all my stories about Joe Actionmoviestar." It's the same if it's an anime character or a western animation character. "I'm Alice Author, and these are all my stories about Jim Cartoon." You can even write it from the point of view of your own character: "Hi, I'm Mary Sue, and these are my adventures with Joe Actionmoviestar." But only Frollo Freak (that's her username) would write something along the lines of "I'm Jim Cartoon, and these are all my adventures with Mary Sue." Is that not odd?
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."I've done some round robins, but not in ages.
The first one I can remember doing was waaaay back when Hero6 was still active. There was a round robin that happened in the forum. Aside from widely varying writing quality, the story was actually pretty good. At some point I went through and edited the whole thing together so it actually read like a coherant story, but I've since lost it to the vagaries of computer upgrades.
I took part in a few on the TTLG forums, around the time Thief3 came out. Most of those were also really good, but there were a few that went off the rails. Sadly, I don't remember most of them now, but it's where I met Kat Richardson, so I think it was time well spent.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswAll round robins go bad. It is their fundamental nature.
Nous restons ici.
I cannot be the only one who had happened to get into what seems a compelling round robin fanfic, when suddenly the thing start to go off the rails, due to a new writer taking the story on a wild tangent, or the contrary, the author trying to retcon each other perceived wild tangents.
