Right now, a hat is supposed to represent a single troper who thinks that a trope's ready for launched.

Therefore, Fridge Logic sets in when you learn of the fact that it's possible to remove a hat, and thus, making it look like said "troper" redacted a hat when it's actually another person who removed it.

Thus, I'm suggesting a tally on hat additions and removals similar to crowners so that we can tell how many tropers tried to add a hat and how many tropers tried to remove one.

We can still keep the limit of 0 hats minimum and 5 hats maximum, only now, rewrite the rules so that it doesn't imply exactly 5 different people think it's ready to launch.

I don't entirely like how the hat system works; in a crowner, if you switch your vote this creates a +/-2 difference to the overall score (which is calculated simply as # for - # against), where with a YKTTW if you switch a hat it only does a +/-1 difference — the math simply does not add up.

I wouldn't mind seeing a straight crowner-like system (votes for/against launch readiness), but currently the problems with the hat system are minor AFAIK.

Bump. I haven't messed with YKTTW since 1.3 came out so I don't know if anything like this is in play now or has been suggested.
