I often state this to be a guilty pleasure because...well, it's not a very good movie. Van Damme can't act to save his life, the "romance" subplot is horrible and the whole thing has an air of ridiculousness.

But, after rewatching it.... I love it. I love it so much. The overall story isn't so bad, some of teh fights are really cool, Chong Li is an amazing villain and that soundtrack. Watch that video and listen to dat OST. That alone makes the movie good.

So what say you? Is Bloodsport a legitimately good film or no?

This is one of those cheesy action fighting movies that is fun to watch but should never be taken seriously.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for cheesy flicks of various sorts.

It's one of those movies that works best as a highlight of different martial arts styles rather than being a really good movie in its own right. Van Damme's later movie The Quest is similar and even more pronounced. But having a Tournament Arc is fine so long as you have something other than the threat of not winning to keep the stakes up.

My brother and I caught this one on cable TV one afternoon. Having never seen it before, we had a lot of fun predicting which tropes would happen next and laughing at the cheese.
