Are there any other fans of the Boss here? I gotta say, he's been my all-time favorite artist for a couple years now. As cliche as it may be, Born to Run is my favorite album. So many great songs on that one.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.

New Jersean here, so it's required by law that I like him.

Not to say I wouldn't like him if I didn't live in NJ, though, but still, he's got a really strong cult of personality here, which is especially weird considering how humble I've heard he is. (I know a few people who said they've run into him at the gym before—he's one of those people that clearly doesn't let celebrity get in the way of living a normal life for him.)

"Born to Run" is one of my favorite songs of his, of course, but I've always loved the Born in the U.S.A. album, especially considering I grew up with it. I'll admit, I haven't delved too deeply into his catalogue yet, but I love all of his early stuff. His first album Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ is greatly underrated—"It's Hard to be a Saint in the City" is a pretty amazing song. I know I've also listened to some stuff off The Rising (that and U.S.A. are the only two Springsteen CDs my parents owned; any others we have were purchased by me later on), and I love the title track of that album. Oh! And his latest album Wrecking Ball is pretty great too. Fun fact: One of my professors actually played guitar on one of the songs. I can't remember which song, but I know what he played on it was an original lap steel Rickenbacker from the '40s, kinda like this one.

Oh, and one more thing. You know how people always say that "Born to Run" should be NJ's official state song, and then people counter that the song is about desperately wanting to get out of New Jersey? Well, why do you think we want it to be the state song so much? tongue

[up] Yeah, Greetings is my second favorite album of his, but I think the best track on that one's "For You".

Also, I think I'm in the minority on this one, but I think his original "Blinded by the Light" is so much better than Manfred Mann's.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.

I wouldn't call "For You" the best track on there, but it's definitely one that I remember more than some of the others on the album. And I agree completely on "Blinded by the Light". Honestly, after hearing the original, Manfred Mann's cover just annoys me.

Ah well, that one is like a year and a half old anyway, and wasn't so easily searchable, and had very few posts, so I'd say his is fine.

So does anyone else think "Backstreets" is about a gay relationship?

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
