How could I miss this one?...
'Brains, brains, I won't lie...'
Well, for starters, I have two Animaniacs soundtracks - the Animaniacs official soundtrack album, and Animaniacs Variety Pack, which contained a few songs left off the first as well as a couple songs from Pinky & The Brain. "Schnitzelbank" is probably my favorite, actually, but I love the whole shebang.
The Disney Afternoon block had a whole bunch of classic songs. The DuckTales theme (woo hoo!) is the most fondly remembered, but there were several greats. The themes to The Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck were all great, and a few songs within each one were pretty solid - my favorite was "The Fat Cat Stomp" from the "Adventures in Squirrel-sitting" episode of Rescue Rangers.
This might technically be more anime, but the opening theme/fanfare from Voltron is a personal favorite from an action show.
Oh, the opening themes to Thundercats and Silver Hawks were both great. James Lipton, you're underappreciated as a composer.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. There is also a third Animaniacs CD, Yakko's World, which features several new songs about the world as well as songs that didn't make it on the other albums ("A Quake, A Quake" and "U.N. Me").
There's also a Disney Afternoon soundtrack CD with full versions of the themes from all the original shows, which is thankfully available on iTunes.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."A favorite of mine, this whole episode
The entire musical episode from Billy and Mandy about the brain-eating alien, too.
Here are some of my favorites including reason and video itself:
1. The Lobe's Song - There are so many songs to choose from off the Stephen Spielberg cartoons (Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid) but this one sticks out to me the most. Basically its a Villain Song bur instead of being dark, dramatic orchrestra piece that shows how truly dangerous the guy is like all the other songs at the time, it is lighthearted 1950s showtune hit describing how the bad guy wants to enjoy a night of culture and fine dining (which is fitting for a guy like The Lobe).
2. Scary-O - My favorite scene in that Billy & Mandy movie. Like it for its sea shantee theme, the parody nature of how animated movies must have songs, and the awesome rock ballad that showed up out of nowhere.
3. Daffy Duck The Wizard - . . . Do I really need to explain? This is the best Merrie Melody segment on The Looney Tunes Show. Awesome Music! Awesome Art! Awesome Awesome!
4. Aquaman's Rousing Song of Heroism - There are a lot of songs on Batman The Brave and The Bold that I like. But this songs just epitomizes everything I enjoy about reading super heroes. Hell, just listen to this song while reading the Sea King arc of One Punch Man and you'll notice how very fitting this song is to that story.
5. Canadian Kilted Yaksmen Anthem (sorry can't find the actual full version of said scene) - I enjoy the derange humor of Ren & Stimpy as a kid. So when I first heard this song (an obvious parody to the British National Anthem) I naturally take a liking to it. The selling point to said song is its oddly prideful lyrics to how much they suck. This song and ll of the jokes makes this the best Ren & Stimpy ever (just watch the episode, its the best).
There's probably a bunch more, but I'm either too lazy to put them all down or I can't think of them at the moment.
