The easy way is being so gentle with the trope as to barely remove anything at all.
There is a major problem here, and we can't let it get away with a few trims and tweaks.

It's not, there's a clean-up thread for it and time would be spent going there and helping.
How exactly do you see the trope to be fixed without removing anything?
I didn't say it could, I just said we need to clean it to fir the current definition instead of tacking on more restrictions.
I am not sure if we can get enough manpower for that at all. Granted, "new restrictions" are going to need a cleanup crew as well.

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with this trope that requires any action beyond standard curation, which anyone can do for any trope at any time. If it's that important to you, do it. Just leave good edit reasons explaining why you're deleting stuff and you're golden.

There's a clean-up effort underway. This discussion is moot. Locking the thrread, it's counterproductive to be arguing about whether to clean it up or not when there's already a clean-up effort underway, particularly since the reason being offered for cutting rather than cleaning can be boiled down to "But that'll take effort."

To me that's a way of shrugging the problem off and doing it the easy way.
