That's sad. R.I.P.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you.":/

Feels like a fucking punch in the gut. Such a crazy-beautiful-amazing man, a voice that managed to have incredible emotional range despite being oftentimes monotone, so many songs that gave me reason and purpose through the years. There's not much that can relax me, ever, but the closest I come to feeling like things are gonna be ok are when I'm in some strange city and the last thing I hear at night is "The Velvet Underground and Nico" album on my headphones because it connects me to home. That voice was the soundtrack to so much in my life- traipsing my way through my college campus, having sex with boyfriends and lovers through the years, finding my bearings walking somewhere unfamiliar, being the only tether to sanity on the job. There's still much of his solo work I need to get, but this year has been dominated by repeated listenings to "Transformer"
The Onion AV Club put it best- "As crucial as Reed’s treatment of the darkness was for redefining what is and what can be pop music, it’s important to remember that he was also adept at writing about celebration and release. The characters of “Walk On The Wild Side” are shedding skins to be their true selves. Jenny, the protagonist of the Velvet Underground’s “Rock And Roll,” finds purpose in the sounds emanating from the big city. We will never stop trying to define Lou Reed, but there’s no need: It’s all there in four decades of recordings. Don’t overthink it: Despite all the computations, you know you could dance to the rock ’n’ roll station."
Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!I don't really have words right now. Just ... none.
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.Nicely put.
Don't have the record where that came from. Might check out in the future.
How appropriate, and poetic, and tragic that he died on a Sunday morning.
How dare you disrupt the sanctity of my soliloquy?I find it frustrating that his last album was Lulu w/ Metallica. An album that has only ended up harming both of their reputations as music artists even more.

If this isn't heartwarming, I probably don't know what is.

At least, he died doing something he likes. Very poetic indeed.
This wasn't posted.
My angry rant blog!
Lou Reed died today.
And, on this day.
