Question - since things will be more fantastical than canon Civilization, can Barbarians be replaced with 'Monsters' or something?
Or maybe have both, with Monsters being different in that Barbarians are basically a tiny, short lived Civilization that crops up all over the place and is ultra aggro, while Monsters (not from any one specific thing, but more a broader generic term for 'all sorts of hostile, fantastical or alien creatures' that could include beasties from all sorts of settings) entirely use unique units that the players can't access, perhaps being rare but powerful, like a set of mobile, hostile Ruins?
Since I'm not very familiar with terms in Civilization or the finer details of how the game works, it'll take me a bit to figure out my sign up sheet.
I would say that at the very least the idea of Barbarian could be stretched to include Orcs, Goblins etc.
Trump delenda estI'll just stay with the barbarians having more than just humans in their ranks.
Honestly, I'm tempted just grab a Call Of Duty game, so I don't have to worry too much about the unique buildings. And the R Ping would be simple: America, well-meaning, but a bit of a fuckup.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! How does my sign-up look so far? :o
Looing fine, but I'd suggest moving the discussion to the sign-up thread.
I don't think it'd be a smart idea to sign up as a nation from a game that relies so much on showing off its big guns when you won't get to those big guns for a loooong time.
If I choose COD, I get no advantage whatsoever. Their tech is modern tech. I'd be really taking a disadvantage. And I like the sound of that.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! Also, I wouldn't suggest going with an actual real world nation just because... Well, Civ uses real world nations, which includes America (represented usually by Abraham Lincoln or George Washington and getts F-15s and Navy SEALs as special units to my knowledge).

Wizard Needs Food BadlyI'm still interested, I'm just trying to think of a suitable culture to RP as (I'm a big xenofiction fan, if you haven't already figured that out yet, so I'm just going through my bookshelf looking for an interesting and unique human civilization).

GG: Yeah, but if someone decided to play the UNSC, they'd essentially be playing the UN, wouldn't they? Using real-world countries is avoidable, but would cut off many great possibilities.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! What's the point of playing a nation that's so similar to a real world nation, especially in a fictional crossover game?
Also, can we move this discussion to the signup thread?
Here we go.
