"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des Ursinswell, my first exposure to Hawkeye was in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which was expanded upon in the Avengers movie. were those two interpretations true to the original character?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Yeah, actually. The cartoon in particular nailed the character. The movie, I felt, was kinda lacking in the snark and short-temper, but I think it's justified due to the story.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)It's kind of hard to demonstrate personality when you have 8 minutes of screen time and you are a robot for 6 of them.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsHe still could have demonstrated personality even as a robot; the staff didn't take away the characters' identity. Selvig, for example, still talks like Selvig. Hawkeye is very consistently portrayed as a hard-edged, serious, all-business agent. They completely missed the ball on the snark and ego. I think the writers overcompensated for his status as "the guy with the bow" by trying to make him look overly professional.

"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsHope you Hawkguy fans had a joyous Kwanzaa.
Lafayette StrongHa, Hawkeye is the one movie avenger I don't have an avatar for.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseThis thread just doesn't feel right if we aren't saying "bro" at the end of every post.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des Ursins\*bro
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseSince Matt Fraction's Hawkeye is apparently the greatest thing ever in superhero comics, it's only fair he has his own thread.
