...who's Samuro?

but HOW?

Non-Warcraft 3 player, just ignore em'Playable Blademaster that appeared in the campaign in Warcraft 3 whose name also was used in the random name list for the Blademaster hero in multiplayer. Samwise's stand-in for Level 90 Elite Tauren Chieftain is also named Samuro (and really it's kinda easy to remember the name Samuro when you know about Samwise too).

I'm kind of surprised they didn't use Grom Hellscream as the Blademaster hero.

I dunno, I never really thought of Grom as such an intrinsic Blademaster. I mean, the general fun point of the Blademasters is being a samurai BUT AN ORC! Grom's axe and being a bloodthirsty Leeroy Jenkins takes away from that feel.

I'll repeat this as many times as needed:

So, while making the WC 3 story, they took a look at Grom and the Orc heroes available... and they were like "Oh shit! We don't have a bulky axe orc warrior hero to fit with Grom, all we have is this Samurai-style Orc!"

And so they fitted Grom to make him look like a Blademaster with an Axe.

If anything, Grom would look more like a bulky Axe Warrior, not a nimble samurai. But back then, there was that obstacle of not having a bulky orc warrior hero. (As in, you can't just change Grom into a Tauren, because the STR hero for Orcs is the Tauren Chieftain)

Well they could have made Grom a unique Hero unit ala Archimonde/Mannoroth -who ironically doesn't get used in game but a similar substitute shows up as a unique hero in Archimonde's army

but I guess they figured it be easier to just reskin a Blade master to fit Grom, Since Grom's suppose to be a Lightning Brusier instead of making him a tauren in an orc body.

Also I always laugh cause Grom always looks Younger then Thrall cause while Thrall kindah as beatup look... grom always has super smooth and well cared for skin... despite being the guy who you konw lives head first into battle.

Thrall hows more visible battle scars XD

Just to confirm here, Grom and Grommash refer to the same orc, right?

Rotpar Since: Jan, 2010

...maybe?tongue

Grom is short for Grommash, so yes, Grom is Grommash. However, then we have alternate-universe Grommash who is never referred to as "Grom". So, it's the same person unless we're going to debate whether the alternate one is the same guy and they used his full name to set a difference.

Interestingly enough, the only person referring to MU!Grom as Grommash is Mannoroth in Warcraft 3.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.

I think it was more that they wanted at least one significant character for every hero type in the game (Arthas/Uther, Jaina, Muradin for Human; Arthas, Kel'Thuzad, Christmas-Light Dreadlords for Undead; Thrall, Grom, Cairne for Orc; Tyrande, Malfurion, Illidan for Night Elf) . They needed a Blademaster and Grom is an aggressive melee guy, so he fit the bill.

Also, Grom having less visible scars could be a testament to just how good of a warrior he was. tongue

[up][up]Honda Tadakatsu-style?

[up]He meant the WC3 faction, which is indeed called Humans.

Yeah, the only obvious change is the second heroic ability.

Well, Critical Strike is tuned to be more consistent (+50% on every basic attack versus 15% chance for x2/x3/x4) and Mirror Images deal some token damage (when they didn't at all in WC3). Bladestorm also lasts 4 seconds instead of 7. So, similar skill set, but the way things have been tweaked, I think his play style is going to be more than a bit different.

Well, he won't be murdering gold miners and lumberjacks out of nowhere anymore, that's for sure.

...not considering Uther skins.

Ughh I still don't know which pisses me off more about WC Kael and illidan's motive decay and descent into standard villiany or Nerzhul gets written off just so Arthas can have a redemption plot and look like an idiot

It always amuses me how annoyed some people get at Kael'Thas going from indirectly serving Kil'Jaeden through Illidan in WC 3 to skipping the middleman once Illidan goes clearly off the deep end in Wo W. Almost as much as the scene in WC 3 where Kil'Jaeden just goes up and asks Illidan to serve the legion again and his immediate response is "What would you have me do, great one?"

Is there any way to always display the range for Brightwing's auto-heal?

[up][up]Probably because Kael's dedication to Kil'jaden went above and beyond his original motivation of taking care of his people which was his defining character trait before then.

Well, to be fair, in the Warcraft universe, it seems that immense power tends to corrupt (actually, scratch Warcraft, this has been a consistent thing in Starcraft and Diablo too... arguably Overwatch, as well). That Dark Knight quote of "Either you die a hero or live to see yourself become a villain." applies directly to Blizzard storytelling—in spades. Kael getting drunk on power is just par for the course.

The D2/D3 Barbarian and Deckard Cain being the exceptions that prove the rule.

Deckard didn't exactly die in his bed though. Maybe he still counts for it?
