Episode 23. In which there's a festival. Again.

As usual, when Koko says she's not making sense, she's making perfect sense. Which also explains pretty much everything else that's been going on lately with her. She should try to not make sense more.

"I'm not making more of a scene than you usually do." He can be so funny at times. And while it's actually true, it doesn't say a whole lot. But what he's really saying is, "I don't want to hear that from you."

There's no better Mitsu expert than Koko.

Nana is awesome.

Chekhov's video. Again.

The way this episode ends kind of implies there's just an epilogue left, where nothing new actually happens. Which seems a little odd.

That scene at the end with Mitsuo left me a little misty eyed.

At least Banri has accepted his "death". If he really is gone.

2D had the best line this episode.

Nana is glorious.

To be fair, pretty much everyone is excellent in this show. Including scary tea-club senpais.

While the plot was kinda crazy, I have to say I'm gonna miss the characters.

Episode 24. In which strange stuff happens.

Running without proper shoes like that... Well, no one claimed he was sane.

Refraining from commenting on the ghost.

Good job, 2D-kun!

Oh, hey, Miss Monochrome. Again.

So yeah. Was an interesting series. Not quite the usual drama you see. I mean, for one, the main couple was an actual couple for the majority of the time. And both of them are various kinds of mentally ill.

2D-Kun is the best character. He single handedly saved the day. ALL GLORY TO 2D-KUN!!!!

Does 2D-Kun now count as a three dimensional character? Something seems wrong with that.

Maid Banri on the bridge made me crack up.

I am pleased to see 2D-kun receive his very-much-deserved praise. ALL GLORY TO 2D-KUN!

The trippy bridge scene was such a ham-handed way of resolving things that I couldn't help but be impressed.

Just finished the series - I was initially watching it during its run, but I decided to pick it up after it'd finished airing, so I could watch it at my leisure.

(following post has untagged spoilers, new watchers reading the thread should turn back)

I didn't find the ending too rushed, but that's because I'm not invested in the series except for the show so I honestly wouldn't know. It's a good show, but I think reading the novels might take up a ton of my time. I'm pretty shallow sometimes.

I will say that both Kouko's shock breakup with Banri messed me up, and so did his memories returning. I was also really worked up by the accident, and while Ghost Banri was a dick, I actually don't think he was cursing Banri. It's entirely possible that he was, but at the same time a lot of stuff that happened couldn't be helped - the rain, maybe not, but I don't think he could influence Mitsuo's behavior. Also it seemed like the show was putting a lot of emphasis on Banri's air conditioner, as if it was gonna break due to the curse, but nothing came of it in the end.

I have a theory: Ghost Banri isn't so much a ghost as its the part of Banri's brain which has become dormant with his old life and memories - it's not hibernating, but it's not active, either. It's just waiting to become active again. A lot of the things that happen with his "curse" aren't too supernatural - the rain on the fireworks day might count, but then there's Mitsuo being busy (having dinner with Linda, which Ghost Banri would not approve of), the gang getting stuck in traffic (it's Tokyo) and even the surprise rainstorm (weather patterns change sometimes, we've all had that day where you've expected sun but gotten rain, even after sunny skies were predicted on the news).

Then again, it is fiction. Ehh.

I began thinking Kouko was just a weak character, but around the time of the crash she really matured. I was surprised when I was cheering for her and Banri in the final episode instead of him and Linda - she'd come such a long way from using him as a jealousy device. Mitsuo had a lot of wasted potential - he's absent a whole lot, and it sucks because the scenes of Banri meeting him and saving him from a lusty club member were some of my favorite in the series. Mitsuo's heartwrenching hero moment and teary promise really hit me hard as well. Poor guy.

I'm glad Linda had a hope spot after confessing to Ghost Banri. Though I have to say, because she shows interest in Mitsuo, what's gonna happen to Chinami? I hope she's okay, she's such a dear. Also, good for 2D for saving the day!

Quick thought: did the final bridge scene actually happen, or did Linda confess to a changing Banri as the old one got replaced with the new one? Because that'd be weird.

And my final comment: for the last third or so of the series, the one thing that never left my head was "SEE A DOCTOR". He saw one after his first lapse, but he SHOULD HAVE SEEN A NEUROSPECIALIST. THAT SHIT AIN'T NORMAL. Even if he was replaced by Old!Banri, he'd have more incentive to leave his footprint if he knew for sure because he knew for sure he was going to be replaced. For all means, he should have let his mother know, and they should have gotten him checked by a head doctor. He could have had cranial bleeding, or a developing tumor - his symptoms could have led to him literally dying.

He should have visited a doctor suited for his particular problem - the sedatives were good, but he should have been directed to a neurospecialist instead of being given sedatives and waiting for them to run out. It's just a show, of course, but at the same time - a lot more could have been wrong with Banri.

Final Final Thought: Did Linda buy the shoes knowing they were Banri's size? She says they were an impulse buy, but she could have been giving him a gift in a roundabout way. Though other people had tried them on, it seems a tad suspicious that she'd bought shoes in Banri's size by accident and given them to him for free.

[up] The rational decision would indeed to have consulted a neurospecialist, but not many people would really walk into something they can "die" from.
