Anyone read Alan Weisman's ''The World Without Us''? It's impressive as to how much attention was paid to detail in Coppelion surrounding decay and natural reclamation in a post-human environment smile

And they shouldn't wear short skirts.

we're at the point where the deployed force is 3 highschool girls

it'd be weird for them to have reasonable skirt length given how anime is (in fact, whenever I see a character with a non-miniskirt in anime that's a student, I inform all my friends about it as if it was a sensational news story or something)

I don't realy think school uniform is issue. They have antibodies against radiation so they can wear pretty much whatever they want.

And for them being high school girls, it's same situation as in Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince, they are geneticaly engeneered and considering catastrophe happaned 20 years ago their age make sense.

If anything, I'd say that given that the catastrophe was only 20 years ago, they're older than you'd expect.

The uniforms were silly, but yeah, I suppose they can wear what the want if they are immune. Honestly, the whole setup just seems odd.

Why are you searching for survivors 20 years later? If they survived that long, they are fine.

And for this searching you send in....3 high school girls. On foot. Like they are gonna search a whole city or something.....right.

The girls equipment(not counting the uniforms even) is odd. Why do they have a tablet but no vehicles? (Bikes would make alot of sense actually). Also...why the comment about their phones not working? You spend 20 years engineering kids for this environment but you can't get them satellite phones(Or even really strong radios?) Where are they getting food from anyway? They sure don't seem to be carrying it. And if they are air dropping it....you would think they could air drop something useful. Like gas for a car.

If there is actually a reason for all the oddness, that would be good and could be interesting. The cliffhanger at the end didn't really point in that direction however. I'm hoping Ibara knows their real mission. And that there IS a real mission

1) Reason why they look for survivors now will be covered and make perfect sense.

2) Oldest of them is Ibara who is 18. Driver license in japan is from 21. And considering desolate state of roads bike itself would be likely more trouble than it would spare.

3) I am not that well versed in radiocommunication, but get singal through area filled with extremly strong radiation seems to be like big chalange.

As far as translated manga cover this uncompromissely sit on hard side of scale and doesn't seem have any intend move from that position.

1)Er...ok. Cool. I'll just trust you for now.

2) Roads looked fine. You would want offroad models, but it shouldn't be a problem. Even ATV's would be fine.

3)Radio should be fine. Radiation is mostly either particles or gamma rays. Neither interfere the radio part of the spectrum. Getting signals through shouldn't be a problem.

Radios were working, weren't they? I seem to remember something to that effect; their cell phones wouldn't work, but they could still communicate by radio. Certainly, those walkie talkies they have are working.

The uniforms bother me for lack of originality, if nothing else. You have your post-apocalyptic setting and you send them in with highschool skirts? There is so much more you can do with that setting, but nooooooooooooo jarring uniforms all the way.

Well, it's not post-apocalyptic per say...

But anyway it still looks unprofessional. Wear military gear, that'd look cool. At least a p.e. suit if they have to remind us that these are high school girls!

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

As I said in the fall's anime thread, it seems like it would include a lot of Scenery Porn. And that's one of the high points.

I'm really too jaded to be bothered about their inappropriate uniforms.

Though about the food, on the other hand, didn't they have injections for that? Which would probably last quite a bit, if they're advanced enough.

And the cliffhanger was useless. Also mentioned that in the othe thread.

Hmmm...I like the atmosphere, but there are some odd plot elements. I could imagine the three girls being on a post-apocalypse camping trip, but not a military search-and-reecue mission.

[up] Well, said. It seems like they are trying to do post-apocalyptic without the apocalypse.

[up]Well, I wouldn't put it that way, but they are trying to have their cake and eat it too with the whole "schoolgirl searchers" thing.

On another note, how many here have actually read the manga that this is apparently based on?

I'm pretty sure the food was brought in by a certain exhausted and whiny ThirdPersonPerson whose bag looks really...heavy.

I read it up to...I can't remember. The scans stopped popping up so I quit reading it. That was probably more than two years ago though. o.o

Episode 2. In which there are tears.

That "cliffhanger" turned out differently than I expected. By introducing a new character.

The technology in the city seems more advanced.

I'm not sure if that doll-identification thing is Cloning Blues or not since they overall seem rather okay with being clones and not having parents as normal humans. And how much they're going to play that dice, as the trope is a bit trite.

So, exactly how did she save the child?

I kinda wonder how many sobstories they're going to wrangle out of this.

Yeah, episode 2 was just okay. A bit too heavy-handed on the melodrama with a few OOC moments.

Episode 2: the scenery is still pretty

This feels like some played Fallout and decided it needed to be less depressing with more schoolgirls in miniskirts. Kids still get a free pass too

So we got some hints at a real plot. Which is neat....but before we do that....MOAR CHEAP DRAMA!

Cloning Blues is especially ridiculous in this case given what they look like. When she was talking to the mom I was expecting Aoi to say they were sterile. Maybe that would be to dark for this.

Anyway, you know what makes kids smile? Not leaving their father to die???? I was hoping Ibara would smack him....but nooooo. Depends on what his crime was, but it's been 20 years. You could argue they served their time.

We got hits of there being something interesting here. Someone was delivering food? For that matter....how do they fill those oxygen bottles?. I kinda suspect there might be something interesting under this(maybe), but they seem to be mostly just milking it for melodramatic thrills.

Episode 2:

  • Well, well. That dog can be trusted. I'm glad. They got themselves a great boon.smile
  • They wanted to be with Miku forever. Then they went and got themselves killed. Especially crimidad. Why did he...?sad
  • There was a delivery service? And better hazmat suits? Looks like someone knows something that everyone else doesn't...
