Ooh, sounds really awesome...
...GODDAMN IT, JAPAN!
Oh well, it still sounds interesting enough. Will give it a try.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Liked the atmosphere and the backgrounds were gorgeous, but the character animation was awkward and distracting.
Holy shit was that Aoi girl ever annoying. The other two are fine though.
I'm interested to see where the story will go, so I'll stick with it for a few eps.
May as well give this one a try, too. I don't mind Female protagonists.
Watch SymphogearCool, I love this kind of setting. Those backgrounds...that naturalized, abandoned city...<3
However, humans can't survive there even with a suit unless genetically altered, but some dogs, birds and amphibians can? Shouldn't them amphibians and birds be the first to go? Also, apparently when dogs become feral they actually turn into wolves. Need to know more about the history, I guess.
I didn't see any needless drama with the puppet thing so far. They shrugged it off literally a second later. I liked the characters from what's been shown of them so far. They're obviously beginners (well, maybe the senpai has some experience), can't expect them to be perfect at what they do. And I like their bold lines, though the whole school uniform with tiny miniskirt thing is not necessary for every anime.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Was it good? I thought it was kind of horrible since it was trying to cash in on interest that the show hadn't earned. At this point I still don't care about any of the characters, so trying to up the tension by leaving one's fate "in question" (not really because of the OP and next episode preview) just feels cheap to me. At best bad pacing to end the episode there. There are better ways to establish the animals as dangerous.
Overall, the show gets high points for its premise and atmosphere (and it even makes sense that they're high schoolers because they were born to do this), but immediately loses a lot of those points for being generally ham-handed in every other way. Seriously, we're doing this doll-human thing?
The humans evacuated, the other animals either died or adapted. This is called evolution. It's actually pretty hard to kill everything, even if you wanted to.
I wouldn't be surprised about bugs or rodents, but I feel like amphibians are really prone to dying due to pollution, and dogs are mammals like humans though I guess they can breed faster (though not as much so as rodents).
I also have to question what people are doing in that area. They have haz mat suits, so they are probably not just too poor to live elsewhere (though I don't know how much the things cost or how available they are). Is it safe to assume they are treasure hunting i.e. scavenging for loot?
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I'm sure that's part of the mystery of the show, so I don't think it's safe to assume anything yet. It certainly seems unlikely that they've been living there in Hazmat suits for decades though.
I'm calling it obviously they are gonna get trapped in the city and go through some stupid survival/human interest drama
Ok, I get that they are some genetically engineered special unit They send in 3 highschool girls in miniskirt uniforms without much in the way of equipment? WTF? Where are they getting food? They way the girls are dressed and (not) equipped seems like a huge plot hole at this point. You can genetically engineer kids...but can't give them a car? Or even....a bicycle?
The doll thing was stupid. Honestly, I'm sick of characters that clearly are "human" angsting about it due to being a little different. It's a trope that should die. It's been beaten to death for at least 20 years now. More in sci-fi
The VP's exposition seemed a bit heavy handed. Will have to wait an see if that was intentional or not.
It clearly seems to be going for the dramma angle and wants you to take it seriously, but there are elements that make it hard to do so. Kinda reminds me of Revolution in that way.
I'll give it a bit It would awesome if there was something there, like a zombie plague or I dunno. Something. The Brotherhood of Steel? A conspiracy that didn't suck?
I had pretty much the exact same reaction as d Roy
I probably won't bother to watch more than like...2-3 eps of this unless it gives me more of a reason to stay interested though
MMORPGs are serious business.I liked it. I can't say for certain that I'll be following it as I don't have much idea of where it's going to go, but it's well enough made all-around that I'm not too worried about this
I'm ten chapters into the manga now. It's pretty much consistent with the first episode. Some of the questions I had in the beginning have been answered. It's not excellent, but definitely good enough to continue.
Of course, one thing that will probably not be answered is why their primary task is to find survivors. You wouldn't think there would be many people looking for help there after twenty years. It would make more sense to be studying the ecological progress of the area, and make finding people there a surprise. That way there would be even more drama.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Well watched this one, so far it is certainly an interesting scenario.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing until I remembered Chernobyl, and pretty much nature found a way to survive yet the zone is still dangerous for humans to live, radiation is pretty nasty.
People often thinks it's safe to enter the area because animals can live there.

I like the concept and the design of having highschool girls in highschool clothes in this kind of setting, but so far it's kind of...meh. The whole humanity doomed post apocalypse thing feels forced and pointless, and pretty much nothing actually got my attention or made me care until it turns out the dogs were dangerous.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueI don't think humanity is supposed to be doomed or anything, it's just that the Tokyo area is uninhabitable. A local disaster.
Frankly it's way too timely with the nuclear reactor issue in Japan, and the show was actually apparently delayed a year or two because of this.

Episode 1:
- Okay, so my thought upon hearing the name 'Onihei Mishima' was this: Oni...Mishima!? We can definitely trust this guy, yes sir.
- Aoi broke down pretty quickly after being cheery most of the time. That was jarring to me.
- Never trust dogs in an abandoned city. At this point, they are so feral.
Let's see where this goes...
Am I the only one amused that the first eight minutes of this were practically identical to the opening of Spec Ops The Line?
Now that you mention it, I see the similarity.
I'd lol if it takes a similar route as that game, complete with Ibara becoming Captain Walker.
This must happen.
Who knows. Maybe the first episode, like in Spec Ops, was to lure the audience into a false sense of security that this'll be like any other show about high school girls before pulling the rug out.
Heck, Aoi could end up being Sergeant Lugo.
I have no idea what you people are talking about. That said, am I the only one here that watched the PVs?
Follow this link and compare it to what you've seen.
Ignore the annoying guy who talks. Fixed it to start at the right place.

I only know a little bit about Spec Ops, but that sounds like it could end up about10x more cool than this looked to be. Like I said, I get a Revolution vibe from it so far.
I expected to see battles against big mutant monsters, not a field trip in a dead city with wall paper quality backgrounds, and yes this is quite disappointing. The girls are not even properly trained! (This only makes sense when their manufacturing cost is much lower than their training cost. )
And they shouldn't wear short skirts.
You stupid crashing flash player! If it helps, there's a (literally) two-faced leopard at one point in the manga. It's not important though.
Also, they change their clothes a few times.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
After the first episodes I got some mixed feelings about this. On one had, the art is very, very pretty and the animation is good. I'm also interested in the concept, it's nothing really new but it caught my eye.
On the other hand it's only first episode and I'm already seeing so many things that don't make sense. Like, the girls seem to be completely unprepared for this. Only Ibara seems to even understand the situation, the other two acted more like this was a trip than a mission. Why do they wear school uniforms? Why do they have only one weapon between the three of them? Why didn't anybody told them that feral animals can be cadaverous? Why didn't they get a car?
And there's other things, at the beginning of the episode we are told that there won't be signal in the city... except there is.
And boy did we need the whole "maybe we are just puppets" thing? Overused drama is not good, and it seems silly given the minority of their genetic modification.
The cliffhanger was actually pretty good and got me on the edge of my seat... until five seconds later it was ruined by the ED.
But still the premise is interesting, and I quite like the girls so I'll keep watching it.
