Interesting...
It also seems to bear up the ideas of the story being involving something along the lines of mind uploading or AI: this teaser level seems to involve brain removal and remote body control, the tagline at the end is cogito — I think — ergo sum — therefore I am. The character also ends up sounding a lot like the "duplicate" from the second video (I think that it was). Combined with the title — "Soma", more or less "body" — it may be that either the main character's body is artificial/virtual, or the mind is artificial/virtual and controlling a human body.
My Games & Writingwell if any genre is likely to have a female protagonist its horror.
id say the chance is fairly good.
And yet its still so damned rare. Especially in First-Person experiences. Even though there should be little difference besides getting a different actor for the flashbacks and cries of pain and breaths and pants. Which should preferably not be sexualized, because male horror protagonists don't normally sound like they're getting off from being disemboweled.
...But still. Not that big a thing I guess. It looks interesting regardless. I just would like this to do something even slightly unique in this regard.

I'm reminded of a theory that was posted right after the first video came up:
Vivarium being the title of said vid.

So, the Vivarium creates a copy of a person, while the Mockingbird is perhaps a prototype "body" for the new consciousness, perhaps?

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Holy fucking shit this is better than what I expected, the game looks awesome. Also the main character has now two arms yippe!!
Gotta love how the robots look, getting some System Shock vibe here.
Sadly the arms only appear in specific instances; otherwise it's still all telekinetic.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Maybe there is some Canon Welding between this and Amnesia, and all of this is a part of Phsycic Legacy. Daniel is main character's ancestor confirmed!
Also, is it me or will Frictional Games be packing that new logo when the game releases? I considered adding it to the devs page but I'm not sure yet... Meh, maybe for later.

So obvious plot twist wmgs 1) The character is also robot, but difference is that he can see other robots 2) Everyone is human and main character sees them as robots
(Don't ask me what those human corpses(on first one they would be the actual humans xP) are then, wmgs don't have to make sense xD)
Anyway, darn, he killed someone in beginning there whether they were robot or not <_<

Well, considering the game's subject matter is all about the correlation of mind and body, it may well be possible that the people reduced to a Brain in a Jar have either been conditioned to project a human body onto their robotic husk, or their mind retains the consciousness of their former body on its own. The latter would be particularly interesting, because it can create all sorts of strange situations, where disembodied people are being put into non-antropomorphic machinery, which would create a fucked up disparity between their body awareness (upright, bipedal posture, two arms, etc.) and their actual means of locomotion or environmental manipulation (more than two legs and arms, wheels instead of feet, etc).

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. That latter point does seem to be what they are going for here: remember that live action video of the legless robot being told to stand and him insisting that he IS standing?
Also, why does the sci-fi superlab have an afiliate in Portugal? Have we and Spain progressed to next logical step of just allowing the Cyberpunk megacorps to do whatever they want there?

Because Cyberpunk you silly
Megacorps are as powerful as governments (and in some stories, 10 times more powerful). Seriously, Megacorps are everywhere, even in Africa.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. The most obvious plot twist is that he's one of the robots that thinks he's a human as well. But I'm not that sure.
When the protagonist sees the robot he sees him as exactly that: a robot. When the robot sees the protagonist he sees him as a human, not a robot. Look at it like this
- Robot's vision: I'm a human and you're a human.
- Protagonist's vision: I'm a human and you're a robot.
I think if he was a robot then he'd also think 'I'm a human and you're a human'. The protagonist can obviously distinguish between the two. If he looked like a robot then the trapped robot would think he personally was a human but that the protagonist looks like a robot.
Of course the protagonist could be an android, but I don't think he's a straight up robot like the trapped one is, otherwise the trapped one would be able to tell.

In the debut trailer, the protagonist discovers his own brain underneath a metal hood, which then gets probed by a bunch of tentacle-like cables. According to Frictional, there's no amnesia involved this time, and the protagonist knows exactly who he is. But then, so do all those robotic folks.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I think Frictional has a thing where the events and characters of the trailers and demos are part of the backstory of the actual game, but aren't actually people you play as, or specific sequences you play through.
So.
Its said in the blog post that the PC in the demo video is a minor character, no the main character.
Wow, Ninja'd by the original poster, that's a new one.
