Wasn't The Tick in it's comic book form the first satire on superheroes?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceThis show is actually good? Really? Damn.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Too bad i'll never see it because I no have Hulu account or money to watch it every month.

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceIt honestly feels to me like the only emotion you ever show is pure pessimism. It's pretty fucking annoying.
On my wave, passing oooooooon..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.I have seen positive posts from shop soldier. There's a difference from being overly critical and being a troll. (I may fall in the former category myself.)
And anyway, yes, The Awesomes is good- not fantastic, but better than I expected it to be- I actually expected it to be like The South Park of superheroes, but it had good characterization and world-building.
And The Tick is a parody, not a satire- it's way too silly to take seriously. It's also nowhere near as adult. At least, I have never heard of any Tick story involving sexual fetishes. Except Maybe American Maid's uniform. ,
Btw, you can watch the entire series *for free* on Hulu. You only need to pay for those series and movies branded "Hulu plus".

Whether I go out of my way, that's all I really needed to know. Maybe I will give it a shot. Thanks and take care.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Second season has begun.
Great first second season episode. Nice take on Iron Man, while at the same time discussing the theme of vigilantism vs legal crimefighting (OK not much but it was there.) The Accountant makes a great Legacy Villain, especially the fact that Prock basically created him. I missed the satire (and yet surprising amount of seriousness) in this show. Oh and The Reveal at the end actually caught me by surprise- I mean in hindsight it was pretty obvious, but I was too distracted by the story to notice.
"People vs. Perfect Man" was interesting. Second series I've seen recently that has a politician throw a hero under the bus to save his own ass in the wake of a disaster.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Yeah, I can't stand Perfect Man, but I can see why they want to keep him in the show- as long as he's around, The Awesomes, for all their faults, don't look THAT bad!
Also loved the stuff with "Metal Dude". It was both touching and awkward.
The only part I didn't like was that Concierge's backup plan involved exploiting the bee guy that they had rejected for membership. Poor guy.
Anyway, congratulations to Concierge for finally! being recognized as an official team member. And to Prock for scoring!

Muscleman's sister seems to projecting a bit, do you think?
Quite a bit.
On another note, I'm guessing Malocchio Jr is going to put together his own little Legion of Doom type thing. Be interesting to see how that turns out.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Secunding Tordecai on Shop's pessimism being FUCKING ANNOYING.
I can't wait to see how Malocchio escapes from Mister Awesome. Perhaps by cooking him something that affects his mind?
Like the episode title suggests, Tim goes to school, and it goes about as well as you'd expect.
And the PRICKS grow...
So far, I'm liking this season even better than the last. Nearly every joke works for me, and there have even been twists I didn't see coming (like Prock suddenly being a Chick Magnet, the little girl also having powers, and the bully getting asked to join PRICKS.) Also last season was arc-driven and it was (ultimately) predictable, but so far this one has not (other than Auditor planning his revenge, that is.) I eagerly look for this every Monday.

The team gets their own reality show, with predictable results. I managed to call The producer being a villain but not the other big reveal.
Binged this last week. May get around to the latest ep today.
...so far, it's actually good. Not too much originality from previous shows and movies that also spoof the superhero genre into a comedy, but what it DOES do is very funny, and it has strong characters and an actual developing story!
Malocchio Jr's Evil Laugh is coming along nicely.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!"The Awesome's Awesome Show" was a great deconstruction of Reality Shows and its effects on people. Though I was also glad that it was ultimately a villains' doing that they were on each other's throats and not just their normal pettiness. Also, I was surprised that Malocchio didn't get away; I guess they are saving that for later. Perhaps he'll join the PRICKS? Oddly, Frantic being gay didn't surprise me that much, but then he's weird for other reasons already. I think it was handled well enough, they made fun of it but not in a way that will stick around (I hope.)
The show's continues to please, can't wait to see what else they have coming.

.... they're not plugging Jack Link's Beef Jerky anymore, but MAN were there so many Hulu plugs in this episode!!!
This week, Impresario becomes The Unfettered, while Prock turns out to be like Batman in a way that disturbs his teammates.
Oh Man, this may have been the most disturbing episode yet. Not only do the Awesomes show a shocking amount of What Measure Is a Non-Human?, but it ends in mass suicide caused by squeaky oldster sex. Gross!
On the other hand, Perfect Man is back to being an A-hole, and I'm strangely glad about it. He's funnier that way, and compared to the rest of the episode, it was actually nicer!
OK, now that season one of the series is over, seems like a good time to discuss it, right?
I'm surprised there wasn't a thread on this already. I mean I know it only aired on Hulu, but still.
For being the first-ever adult animated satire on superheroes on TV, I felt it was fairly good. Though it wasn't THAT adult (only the episode "Paternity" was actually about an adult subject, and all the swearing got bleeped the rest of the time.) In fact the show might look like a deconstruction, but jokes aside it was pretty much a standard superhero story. They didn't even subvert the traitor plotline, which they could easily had.
But I'm OK with that. I like superheroes and most parodies and satires of them I've seen have not worked out for me. Here we have this world that seems too cynical for its heroes (and indeed the normal population are a bunch of ingrates) but despite everything (including themselves) the Awesomes proved themselves real heroes.
My favorite character has to be Gadget Girl. They fond a way to make a technically racist character hilarious. My least favorite character is Muscle Man; he was just TOO stupid sometimes, and his alien sex fetish was disgusting.
