"Woo! Waaa! Woohoo!" Sandy yelled as she dodged the arrows, making faces as the Sniper as she did so. "Missed me, missed me, now you have to kiss THIS!" She sang once she got close enough, attempting to hit the Sniper in an upwards 'slice' with her bat, grinning like a madwoman.

Tux walked silently towards the last group, still disguised as a robot. One of his favorite tricks back when they were fighting other humans was using the buildings built by other engineers to their advantages. He fondly remembered using their teleporters and killing them by doing the classic two objects cannot occupy the same space and therefore one of them must die comically.

And so, waiting for the moment when the robot Pyro wasn't shooting the air, Tux crawled on top of the dispenser, staying there, crouched. If the engineer was building a teleporter, then he must build an exit, at which point he could use that good ol' trick of his. Just in case things went south, he held onto his knife, hovering it above the Pyro's back.

Paladin's leap worked, and his swing got the soldier easily, but even with his sword's reach couldn't also reach the sniper; they were standing too far apart for that, his sword a few feet short of the mark. The blow destroyed the soldier robot, healing Paladin back up to full in the process.

Sandy's charge however, did not work so well. Though she didn't get hit by any of the arrows, her taunting caught the attention of the other two robots nearby the sniper robot and scraps of metal formerly known as a soldier robot. She got as far as her second 'missed me' before a wall of explosions went off between her and the sniper; one of the demomen robots setting off the sticky bombs it had been laying around them. Before she could think of just continuing her charge since the stickies hadn't hurt her, that same demoman was now lobbing pipe bombs in her direction, trying to deny her movement by way of explosions. More arrows came her way too, but not from the sniper that had been shooting at her before; instead the one from the fifth group, which was approaching from that direction.

The sniper she had been charging for and other demoman now had their own attention on the hard to ignore Paladin. A pipe bomb hit Paladin square on after he landed, before he could really do anything about it, taking him down to just below half health. Despite more pipe bombs going his way, the sniper robot decided to switch to its large knife and charge at Paladin, going for an overhead swing as it came at him.

Meanwhile, Tux was able to get in position on top of the dispenser, but right as he did so was when his cloak ran out, audibly decloaking in the middle of the group of robots, getting all of them to turn and look at the rather suspicious robot scout that had just appeared on top of the dispenser. The engineer robot that had come over from the third group rather pointedly said, "That Scout's a Spy!"

The rifle sniper, being right next to Tux, switched to its large knife. The pyro on the other side a few feet away brought up the flamethrower, pilot light flickering once. The engineer that had just called him out audibly pumped its shotgun once, keeping it pointed at him from about ten feet away in another direction. The sound of another decloak signaled a robot spy appearing opposite the engineer, revolver aimed at Tux, also about ten feet away.

The other engineer, about five feet away, turned away from its teleporter but keeping its wrench out. (And clanging against its metal hand with its clanky idle animation.) "You know where ya oughta hide next time? Back in France" it suggested to him as the teleporter finished itself. Oddly enough, it immediately activated, pointing off in a direction that Tux would not see a visible exit in sight for. In fact, it was the direction they had been going before the ambush, towards the basin...

Paladin's eyes, already glowing faintly from his previous kills, now were lit up like florescent lights, brodcasting a white glow on anything he looked at. He had received his 4th kill.

Movjng at frankly irresponsible speeds, he moved to the side and forward, attempting to use the opportunity to deliver a cut against the robot's exposed abdomen.

He didn't linger though. Moving erratically once more and weaving through the bombs, although significantly faster now, he closed the distance on the demobot before engaging it, intent on cutting it down.

"Gah!" Sandy gasped as she was forced to change plans, pulling out her pistol and shooting everything she had at the demoman robot and the sniper robot, gritting her teeth as she tried to at least hit the closest robot once whilst dodging the fire from the second one. "No thank you, how about you eat THIS?!" She yelled.

Anyone else would have gasped and started crying for mommy, but Tux?... No, Tux just smiled. The robot Scout stood up. "May I make a suggestion?" He asked in that robotic voice of his, as he reached into his suit, the smile turning into a smirk as the dispenser recharged his metal, giving him... another sapper. "Run." He said, dropping the sapper on the ground, turning around and running towards the teleporter, pulling out his pistol and shooting at the other Engineer robot, hoping that the blasted machine would distract the robots for a while.

Paladin's blow to the sniper robot, stepping to the side of its own swing without issue, regained most of his lost health. Though as he charged at the demoman robot, a pipe bomb hitting and going off against the sniper robot just behind him clipped him with some of the blast. Fairly ignorable, having only taken off a small portion of Paladin's heightened health, and the next few pipe bombs lobbed Paladin's way fared about as well in slowing him down or stopping him. In fact all they really managed to accomplish was finish off the sniper robot.

As Paladin was about to reach the demoman robot though, it switched weapons, the pipe bomb launcher out of ammo anyway, to its stickybomb launcher, and pointed it down as it backpedaled. One shoonk followed by an explosion later, (Along with a rough, incomplete ring of explosions around them from its earlier bomb laying, that harmed nothing.) and both the demoman robot and Paladin were sailing through the air, away from each other. Now Paladin was starting to feel some damage, even with increased health; not enough to be a problem just yet, but enough to be mindful of. (Somewhere over half but with a considerable chunk missing, to be precise.) After the demoman robot landed, it began backing away again, switching back to the pipe bomb launcher and starting to reload.

Sandy's sidearm assault on the other demoman robot was steadily eating away at its health, it apparently feeling content to just stand there and continue lobbing bombs in her general direction. The fact that the explosives were cutting off some of her movement routes was of some concern, especially while trying to dodge the sniper's arrows, but other than a particularly close call with an explosion on one side and an arrow missing by just inches on the other, Sandy was doing alright. Then an opportunity came when the demoman robot stopped to reload again, this time apparently choosing to reload the whole thing rather than just one shot and refiring. The sniper, now practically standing beside the demoman, was holding its arrow, trying to get a more aimed bead on Sandy.

Meanwhile, Tux's choice of action proved to be probably the best one, as the sapper field caught the pyro, sniper, dispenser, sentry, and the closer of the two engineer robots, while also just barely not catching the teleporter entrance. The robots would just be stunned, but the buildings would be as good as done for, so long as the other robot engineer didn't get the sapper in time. In addition, the spazzing pyro actually started shooting its flamethrower, but the spastic twitching made it aim away from Tux, shooting off instead towards the robot spy, forcing it to move away while also blocking its line of sight to Tux. It couldn't guess his location, because of the silent nature of Tux's revolver at night.

The downside of Tux's revolver at night nearly undid the whole plan though, as the damage at the current range to the other engineer was only just barely enough to bring it down; unfortunately the robot was still able to get a couple shots off with its shotgun on Tux, bringing him down to just a little under half health. Now Tux was next to the teleporter entrance, his disguise down due to firing his revolver, but reapplying it would take only a moment. For this moment, his only concern was the robot spy, somewhere on the other side of a curtain of literal fire. (Though unfortunately Tux could not tell where exactly it currently was over there, either.) If he wanted to go through the teleporter to God-knows-where, now was probably the best time.

At this range, Paladin simply closed the distance with his leap and swung his sword in one large arc, aiming to cut both the demobot and his weapon in two.

With all that running, Sandy had charged up some energy for an extra powerful punch. She ran forward, jumping in the air and doing a little twirl just for flair as she switched from her pistol to her scattergun, landing on the ground, closer to the two robots, with a grin. "Tchacaboom, bitches." She said, before quickly shooting once at the demoman and once at the sniper, hoping that each shot would catch the other robot too.

Putting on the disguise of a Robot Spy- what best disguise to use but someone your enemy was expecting, someone your enemy would see as part of the secnery or the routine- before stepping into the teleporter, holding out his knife, ready to attack whatever was on the other side.

Paladin had to wait a moment for his leap to finish recharging, it having been just a bit too soon since his last one but the demoman robot seemed content to just keep running backwards and reloading in that time, so he was in no immediate danger. He would have to remember to run forwards though, as the blast combined with the robot running backwards was about to put it outside of his leap range. If he did he'd easily destroy the robot; if he didn't he'd find himself embarrassingly just out of his sword's reach to the robot at the end of his leap.

Sandy's jump was well timed, getting an arrow that would have killed her missed between her legs instead of in her torso. "Bugger!" the sniper robot exclaimed, just as Sandy unleashed her attack. The demoman robot, already weakened by her pistol fire, went down immediately, but the sniper remained, extremely damaged but still up. With Sandy as close as she was, it switched to its kukri knife and quickly closed the distance, swinging it in a wide arc at her.

Meanwhile, once Tux stepped into the teleporter, a gray colored light engulfed him, and he left the battlefield. It might strike him that the teleporting took a second or so longer than normal, where it was practically instantaneous. He emerged in a similar flash in a large, dark room; it wouldn't take him long to realize it was the bottom room of that land carrier they had disabled before, or rather an identical one. To his right was one of the two ramps leading up to the upper area, and to his left was the open bay door, with a collection of buildings that looked like another RED and/or BLU facility(ies) visible not far away.

It was a little hard to pay attention to that with all the robots in the room. Immediately around Tux, in almost a semi-circle, was from left to right a scout robot, demoman robot, soldier robot, spy robot, and pyro robot. On the other side of the room was another group consisting of three more soldier robots, another demoman robot, and a heavy robot. His teleport got the attention of the five around him, who all turned his way. "Spy!" the soldier robot yelled informatively, and the five of them stared at him, like they were expecting something. The other five robots in the room were ignoring the scene currently.

When the Sniper with the kukri knife came at her, Sandy dropped her gun, doing a double jump, spinning in the air as she attempted to land on the Sniper's shoulders, so she could- with teeth gritted- yell out "FREEEEEEEDOM!" whilst she clutched the Sniper's head, attempting to rip it out of its body.

Oh bugger.

Tux froze for an instant, thinking that this is it, he was dead, and now he was going to have to walk all the way back to where he was killed. But that's when he remembered: he was disguised as a Robot Spy. So he immediately stepped aside in jerky, robotic movements, doing his best to mimic the other robots. "I did all I could!" He said in a French-ish accent, hoping it would trick the other robots.

He did indeed take the few steps needed to kill the Demobot, and he quickly turned his attention to Sandy and ran over in case there was something left to do there.

Battlefield

As the demoman robot was destroyed, over to Paladin's side Sandy managed to get up on the sniper robot, just barely missing his kukri. Planting her feet on its shoulders for leverage and pulling against its neck, Sandy's scream turned triumphant as the various connections and tubes gave way or came up with the head. Sandy was able to stand, magnificently framed in the moonlight as she stood on the headless robot's shoulders and held the disconnected head above her own, like a trophy of war.

... For about a second or two, then the rest of the sniper robot's body exploded and collapsed into scrap, depositing Sandy unceremoniously and embarrassingly onto the ground.

Well, with that group taken care of, that only left the last group of robots, which were currently all being stunned by Tux's sapper, as the duo would discover when they looked over. All except one, the spy robot. It looked over in their direction, stating a simple, "Ohhhh... merde." Then it cloaked, disappearing from view.

At that point destroying the rest of the robot group would be a simple matter, as Sandy and Paladin could literally walk over and melee them to death. They just had to do it before Tux's sapper ran out, and they would be fine. The robot spy must've slipped off into the rock formations, as they did not see it reappear.

Of course... Now it was becoming apparent that they were all alone out there. Neither their RED comrades nor the BLU mercenaries they had been teaming up with seemed to be around. Nothing but a bunch of broken robots, some dead bodies, a gray teleporter they couldn't use, a tipped over van and a little car with a flat tire were around. Fortunately there was a spare in the trunk of Espía's car, along with a whole bunch of very random objects and spy gear.

Carrier

The robot's to Tux's side moved enough to let him off the teleporter, and stared at it until it fully recharged, and nothing came through. A couple of the robots let out sudden gasps. (Or were they sounds of being hurt? They seemed about the same if not perfectly identical.) The soldier robot shook its head. "That was an amazing killing spree... by the other team!" it yelled out, turning its head (and only its head) left and right to glance over the other robots. "Move out!" it told them, very jerkily lifting one arm up then lowering the forearm to point out the open bay door. All ten robots started clanking out there, leaving Tux alone in the bottom floor with the teleporter.

From upstairs, (or upramp rather) Tux could hear stomping metal footsteps, along with a constant, methodic beeping, like a ticking clock; come to think of it, it had been there from the moment he'd gone through the teleporter, but only now did he have the opportunity to pay enough attention to notice.

Sandy fell on the ground headfirst, and stayed there for some time, groaning to herself. When she stood up, with dirt in her face, she just wanted to hit something so hard it would explode.

Oh, what luck. Helpless robots.

It wasn't long until they met their doom at the hands of Sandy's trusty old bat. And even after they were down, she kept hitting them until they were nothing but scrap metal. Angry for some more of that delicious high you got from destroying things, Sandy ran towards the gray teleporter and started hitting that. "Just. Die. You. Gray. Dumb. Thing!" She yelled with every hit.

"Thank you for being such a dear friend." Tux said in his jerky robotic voice, adding in a beep and a boop for good measure. Strolling through the ship, he quietly made his way upstairs, following the methodic beeping to see what it was, and to see if he could use it against his enemies.

Paladin strode past the teleporter, trusting Sandy to take care of it. His brows scrunched together as he scanned the desert, trying to think of his next course of action.

Former battlefield

The teleporter was destroyed fairly easily, submitting the scrap strewn battlefield to near silence other than the two mercenaries themselves. Crickets and a few other nocturnal bugs were making various noises, but they seemed so quiet in comparison to the combat that had been taking place before.

Paladin wouldn't see much, just empty desert with a few more rock outcroppings, and the road splitting through it off to the horizon. Where it met the horizon, he could just make out the lights and shapes of a facility, the Basin, their destination. It wouldn't be more than half an hour, even on foot, until they should be closer to the Basin than Teufort; at that point they could suicide, and if the RED respawners still worked there, would be there within ten seconds.

Whether they were willing to risk that if was up to them.

Land carrier

As Tux started climbing the ramp, he'd start to see more and more of that same style of command bridge room with the large machinery at the back, just like in the carrier that had attacked their Teufort bases. As he was nearing the top, something would get his attention from outside; the sound of combat, various weapons firing away along with the yelling of robots. But before he could think about maybe going that way to see what was going on, the loud thumping and beeping had come up next to him, at the top of the ramp.

Standing next to Tux was what looked like a demoman sticky bomb or perhaps an underwater mine on legs. It seemed to almost contemplate Tux for a moment, before it started crouching down, the upper part spinning around and the beeping becoming rapid.

Unknown spawn room

One explosion and ten seconds of being dead later, Tux respawned in an unfamiliar spawn room. It was clearly a RED spawn room, but it was also clearly not the one he was used to back at Teufort. There was one door in front of him and one to his left, both of which went out to different upper areas overlooking a large, open area between various buildings of this facility; a track led down a ramp on the other side, and over to a round hatch centered predominantly in the lower area. Along with out the way the track went, it looked like there was a way out through another indoor area on the left side.

Tux could still hear that same fighting he was hearing before, coming from out the direction behind the spawn room. Apparently he hadn't gone far in his respawn.

Sandy continued to hit the teleporter scraps with her bat until they were nothing more than little bits and pieces in the wind, at which point she fell down, letting out a final sigh of relief. "Can I just shoot myself in the head now? I really want to take a bath..." She bemoaned, rolling around in the dusty ground. "And drink some BONK... at least three boxes of it."

Tux stared back at the mine on legs, raising his hands and waving to it in his typical robot manner, before it started beeping suddenly. "I did all I could let's get back to the base pardner OH DEAR LORD IT'SGOINGTOBLOWUPINMYFACE—"

And then he respawned. Groaning, Tux immediately reached to his left, where he kept his stash of cigarettes, knowing this was going to be a long walk. But when he found himself in a completely different room, he pulled out his knife and disguise kit, and chose one of the less-used disguises: that of a Pyro from his own team.

He didn't know anything about these people, and he wasn't going to take any chances. Cardboard mask on, he stepped out of respawn, following the noises.

Unknown facility

Moving as directly as he could towards the sound of combat meant going through the left door; there Tux would find the stretch of rail track apparently looped back around the building this way, seemingly towards the source of the commotion. The track wound between the facility buildings, around a set of low barricades and out to the left; there it finally entered a more open area, with a rocky hill ahead that housed some kind of mine or bunker entrance in the side. To track curved off to the right, past the entrance, over to a tunnel that led through the hill. The right side of the hill seemed to go upwards into a small cliff, and the left side was up against the back of the facility Tux had just left, effectively making the area like a big corridor.

Up at the ridge of the hill Tux would see two fellow employees of RED, distinguishable by the fact that their clothes predominately featured the color red. Judging by the fact that one of them was toting a sniper rifle, it was probably safe to assume they were a sniper; the sniper also just happened to be a woman. The other, from the red colored sentry next to him that he kept hitting with a pair of wrenches, must be an engineer; fellow had the right clothes for the job, but looked a bit young for it. The sentry itself seemed to be an anomaly, as it looked like a standard level three sentry, but with the rocket pack gone in favor of... What appeared to be part of a flamethrower, crudely attached to the top of the sentry.

Over at the entrance of the tunnel meanwhile, was two members of BLU, likewise distinguishable from the fact that their clothes were mostly blue. One, a short little fellow, had to be a demoman; only a demoman would be chucking random, homemade explosives into a tunnel with such reckless abandon. (Well, an engineer might be prone to chucking homemade explosives into a tunnel too, but they would probably be a bit more calculating about it, and maybe build some fancy contraption to do it for them.) The class of the other one was not immediately apparent; he looked around average size and was wearing some kind of explosion disarming gear, along with a face obscuring welding mask. His weapon though, looked like a howitzer artillery piece, the barrel easily longer than he was tall; it was weird how he was lugging it around so easily, as it must have weighed a ton- Oh, that was it, he was probably a heavy.

Both groups were busy firing at something out of Tux's sight, at the other side of the hill and through the tunnel respectively; but based on all the clanking and yelling that sounded like bad recordings that Tux had just spent the last while hearing and impersonating, it was not hard to guess that they were currently fighting robots. Neither group had noticed Tux yet, so he was currently free to approach the situation as he pleased.

It was obvious which group Tux chose to approach first.

"Gentlemen." He said, holding no weapons, as he approached the group with the sniper. "And lady." He put on his best smarmy smile as he took a bow. "I am Tux, a Spy. And I have just appeared at your respawn, after being killed by a group of robots on my way here. So allow me the pleasure of asking you two some questions, namely where am I and what is going on?"
