Exactly What It Says on the Tin
Feel free post your idea for game you wish someone would start or, if you're a GM type person, peruse this thread to see if there's anything that looks interesting that at least one other person has interest in too.
Yes. A thousand times yes.
A Real Life Crossover RP?
Oh my freaking god.
Oh my freaking, shrieking god.
That would be the best thing EVER.
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR ..........Hate to sound like Dan D. Downer here, but I'm kinda puzzled why everyone's so excited about this high school crossover idea. From what I understood, the reason that my game of that premise ended up fizzling away was because having to go through a realistic setting is...well...not that interesting. Or at the very least, it's harder to write a story in a setting you're infinitely familiar with, as opposed to one that you can make up.
SO, it might be possible to have a High School crossover RP and succeed, but we should include something early on that puts the setting more apart from real life. Perhaps an evil gang, or a supernatural phenomenon.
I kinda like that Crossover Team idea ya got there.
I'd like an evil gang actually.
"The Gang of Wedgies!"
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR .......Why thank you, Truth Hurts 22. It came to me as I was thinking of all the people who wanted to play as more than one character, or who couldn't decide between characters, when signing up for one of my games.
Weeell, in my original game, there was a gang led by a teenage The Joker.

Would it be that each player's team would be made up of different characters, or could there be the option to use a per-existing team from somewhere?
... Seriously? That... sounds interesting. :o
But I'd like a twist in it. Makes things interesting! :D
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR .......Both! Both sounds good!
Oh, but that's not all. Y'see, in my game, I decided that all characters with Self Demonstrating Articles were not to be taken by players, therefore giving me a great big roster of NPCs. As a result, G La DOS inhabited the PA system, and Lex Luthor was the principal.
Oh, and Teenage Joker was partially inspired by this.◊
Well I know what team I'd be using. >.> <.<
But in all seriousness, uh... Hmmm. Does sound like a fun idea, I guess. Would at least give it a try if it ever became a thing.
I'm starting to like this team thing more and more! What do ya suppose the plot would be? Like, would said teams be acquainted or in the same world beforehand?
Like I said before, I am really interested in this.
I'd love to try playing the Doctor as some nutty professor.
(eech, now I'm imagining Eddie Murphy playing the Doctor)
I could always play Iggy as a science teacher, or maybe just some wacky teacher's pet.
Dear god, I'm already loving both ideas.
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR .......Hmm... Let's say that it's similar to one of the A Game Of Gods games, with all these characters being summoned to some sort of gladiatorial place, and then sent to compete in different challenges set in different scenarios. Considering the (probable) huge amount of players there'd be, I'd say that there'd be some splitting up into different games, or some coming together to forge alliances.
Perhaps each team has a sort of 'guiding intelligence', like an A.I or mysterious spectral being, who pulls the team together, and gives them their objectives.

I'd prefer if we went for something more normal. Or maybe we could have the characters be stuck in their "normal" lifes, until one of them gets his/her memory back or something like that.
By the way, an addendum to my "RP where the characters grow up", I was seeing it more as a thing where all the characters are special for some reason, and the game starts when they're 7-8, adventure happens, then it moves to when they're 11-12, more adventure happens, and then to when they're 16-17. And then on and on and on. When I say adventure, this adventure could be a month in-game, or an year, or who knows?
The idea is that time passes and they grow up and each time we look at how their relationships changed.
Could do. Could do something similar for the High School Crossover game. Just so you know, the one I was talking about in that post there was the Team Crossover game idea. Just in case anyone's getting confused.
I'd wouldn't mind either, but I've always wanted to see what a High School RP would be like...
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR .......Still interested in this. Makes me wonder what kind of setting it would be, though. Like, a fantasy setting, or a more modern one, or what? Either way, sounds like fun.
Also... Not really a fan of just having characters pulled from across the multiverse due to some vague force as a handwave for crossovers, although that might be because I think it's been done to death and it's admittedly a little lazy, but... Might be just me, I guess.
Well, what are we waiting for? I'm getting more excited about it by the minute.
Tell you what, I think I'll hunt down the old Sign-Up thread for Troper High, and see if I can't recreate it. But if I launch it, I must emphasise: I will not be directly GMing that game. Mm-mm. No sir. I've got enough on my plate with getting into a new semester, and with trying to keep my current three RP games from dying. That said, I will gladly be creative consultant for the game, and may even join as an actual player.
Hmm...well, it could be that the crossover characters actually know each other and shared the same world. But that's just a possibility for now.

So take the Super Robot Wars crossover logic and apply it to a High School AU?
"Yup. That tasted purple."@Moe: An X-Men like setting, perhaps? Modern day with powers or something like that. Or maybe their ancestors were heroes... or maybe they're super soldiers, created on a lab and given fake life so they could "naturally" grow up before being taken back to service? Young kids in a fantasy setting being trained to fight evil itself, to be the last bastions of humanity? Chosen Ones? Medieval fantasy world? The ideas go on and on.
The super soldiers one would add an "on the run" idea to it. Maybe as time passes, the organization behind it grows more powerful.

High School Crossover: My original plans were something along the lines of having the characters all be human, having for all intents and purposes grown up living basically human lives. Albeit some of them may have strange powers.
I had a couple of ideas, such as there being specific places where, if a character wasn't human outside the game, they could be transformed into animals, robots, or whatever they originally were. Potentially, that could lead to more realistic stories of what people would do if they turned into something other than human one day, and felt strangely more comfortable in that form.

I'd prefer them to be the way they are. It'd be interesting to see a demon teacher who threatens the whole class, or something like that.
GO AHEAD .... MR. JOEHSTUR .......I'm a teeny bit confused about the Highschool idea. Like, for the human characters with powers, they get stripped of them and different memories. But then, they start to remember and get the powers back? Or do they just stay normal?
The former. All the fun of playing one character's personality, but with the body and/or powers of another one.
I was thinking it might be set in this city, which everyday kept changing to look like a different setting. Same building shapes, same locations, only changed to look shakespearean or like a jungle.
...I should reiterate that I came up with all these ideas between midnight and one in the morning while trying to get some rest.
