The year is 20XX. Many years after the defeat of various villains to take over and subjugate the Earth under their rule or inflict a reign of terror, peace was brought back and their misdeeds were long forgotten and instead, became part of human history.

It was not long before a string of attacks worldwide were brought to the attention of various superhero individuals and teams with a threatening note brought to their attention.

If you wish to save your world, then fight me. Otherwise, prepare to suffer the consequences with the fate of your world is in my hands.

The various heroes would need to put any of their differences aside to work out who was the culprit responsible for sending out the threatening note and more importantly, who is the new threat that wants to bring chaos to the world?

In fact, what does the mysterious villain want from our heroes? Only time will tell.

A young Caucasian man in his early 30s wore a black jacket, jeans and boots as he walked around a Buddhist temple near the outskirts of Crossworld City, California.

A major thing Dad thought to me was about perseverance. He said that when you're facing impossible odds, it's important to not give into it and find a way to go around it instead of being overwhelmed by the situation. That was brought to the test when I came back to Crossworld City a few months ago...

Ryan Steele made a stop in Tokyo once again, years after being in university while waiting for some progress from his father on whether he and his team of anti-Grimlord scientists have managed to create some progress in terms of having the necessary technology required to defeat him and his army once and for all. It has been a while for the young man since he was in Tokyo during his university years as a means of enriching himself in all things.

So far, things had been quiet in the city. Though he heard rumors of sightings of other creatures and whatnot, Ryan had heard on the internet that these creatures were taken care of by other being wearing similar costumes and gear like he, J.B. and Kaitlin did back in the 1990s when the trio was still in high school.

For now, Ryan decided to walk by and make his way to the New Town School since his father informed him via e-mail that a friendly Japanese scientist he met in Norway made contact with a science teacher who was willing to help him pass on certain technology that could defeat Grimlord.

The night sky was brisk. Cold. If anyone saw D out on the rooftops, they'd inquire him about the placement of a jacket... and a shirt. D couldn't care about that stuff. Not anymore. He heard the flapping of wings. Finally, he thought. The bird has shown up.

"D... It's been a while." D turned around to look at his mentor, Torin.

"Torin... If you're going to ask what I think you're going to ask, the answer's no." D said. They had this song and dance before multiple times. When Debo Nagareboshi attacked China. When Debo Viruson attacked the Middle Ages. When Dogold and Chaos attacked Japan. The fact that Torin was still patient enough to talk him into joining the battle against the Deboss Army and not quit, declaring him a lost cause was astounding.

But it seemed the bird had different intents, evidenced with his head shake.

"I don't wish for you to fight... No... Topaspino wishes for you to fight." Torin said.

"Topaspino? Why him? Hasn't he known that I don't fight?" D said.

"He does... And... He's willing to offer you something in return for fighting one last time. I knew the cost of becoming a Spirit Ranger would be something only a few people would accept, even if they were the bravest of the brave. I am deeply sorry for what you lost and I forgive you if it led to your reluctance, but if there is time for a fight, it's now." Torin snapped his feather-fingers and walked to D.

"I received a message from someone..." Torin then relayed the message over to D. "I'm sure you've heard of the Zyuden Sentai that had been formed not too long ago..."

"Yeah... Why don't you send them to help with that threat?" D said.

"Because I don't wish to have them worry about fighting another threat on top of fighting the Deboss. You removing yourself from the conflict from the time you died has served a purpose after all these years. You could confront this threat while the Kyoryugers remain unaware of the fight." Torin said.

"... You said Topaspino was willing to reward me... What's he willing to bring?" D asked.

"Freedom. Topaspino's willing to sever his connection to you and look for a new person to be Kyoryu Na-... I mean Deathryuger. Think if it. You'd get to go to the afterlife and reunite with your sister... No doubt she misses you." Torin said.

"... Hm... I might be willing to consider." D said.

"There's one risk though... Your reluctance is a double-edged sword. Your spirit is not brave enough to withstand harsh blows... If you die, you will fade away, never to return to the Afterlife or even normal life." Torin said.

"... I'd be willing to put up with the odds..." D said.

"Are you?" Torin asked him. D looked at a single battery: The Topaspino Beast Battery.

"... Yes. I am." D said.

It was now morning for D. He didn't have the closest clue of where to look for the threat... If anything, he began to suspect Torin just sent him on a wild goose chase. He stopped at New Town School, looking around.

A couple of black Ford Expeditions came close to the outskirts of New Town High as they parked on a curb. The doors opened up and out came men dressed in black hoods and grey jumpsuit with black boots and bandoliers on their chests. They were armed with Heckler & Koch UMP submachine guns as they slowly made their advance towards the school.

Ryan was greeted by a skeptical security guard once a woman in her 30s came up to him and greeted him by bowing first before she shook hands with him. She had short black hair and wore a blue pantsuit and black heels.

"You must be Ryan Steele-san." The woman greeted Ryan in fluent English. "I'm Aya Neya, an English teacher of New Town School. I was told to expect you."

"Arigato." Ryan replied in his semi-accented Japanese, which was one of the things he learned when he came to Japan as a university student. "I didn't know that I'm expected."

"There's nothing to worry about. One of the teachers told me to expect you, so allow me to show you the way."
