How would Sunset even afford a car? In fact, how does she afford anything? Did she just have a really profitable year selling off whatever magical crap she brought with her from Equestria?

@Crow: Pretty much. The harem comedy/fighting manga shift is what made it stand out from all the other bog standard shonen stuff.

Also, if she's still capable of using magic, she could probably make a decent amount at birthday parties or something.

I have a hard time picturing pre-Rainbow Rocks Sunset cheerfully performing tricks at a birthday party. If she still had any magic, its more likely she used it to steal shit. But I don't think she had any magic.

I could see it if she was like how she looked in the first picture in Celestia's office.

Well, she could steal shit even without magic. It would make a lot of sense that she'd pick up how to pickpocket fairly quickly. Heck, just raiding the lost and found on a weekly basis could get half-decent income if the school is large enough for cellphones and ipods to show up with regularity.

I think they'd find that pretty damn suspicious if she tried to claim every single lost item of any value was hers.

I'm hoping the holiday special comic actually shows where Sunset lives. I can understand why its not brought up in the movies, pacing issues and all... but still it bugs me.

My only family friendly guess is Sunset somehow convinced the human Celestia to let her stay with her, whereever she lives.

There was a fancomic somewhere that hypothesized that Sunset slept in the sports equipment store while Twi bunked in the library. Padded mats, after all.
