...It still looks like a fun game which I want to play.
And if he once veered away from what made the series good, it appears hat that's not the case now.
I will admit that it probably could do with a bit of art design changing to make it not look quite so "Mega Man in a new costume"-y.
If the thing you created* is legally owned by someone else, now.

I have a message from another time...Seems like Inafune's giving Capcom the middle finger after what they did to him. This looks to be the Spiritual Successor of Mega Man, I guess.
...ehehSo what, would you rather Megaman just stay dead because Capcom are spiteful little bitches?
when you don't own it, and when you created it under contract for someone else.

My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts. No, I would rather Inafune (or whoever) have the rights to Mega Man and Kamiya have the rights to Viewtiful Joe (because that trilogy needs completing), and all that.
What I mean is that the current situation is that they do not have those rights, Capcom does. The law is what it is, even if it really sucks sometimes.

I have a message from another time...
Capcom didn't do ANYTHING to him. He left voluntarily.
who said Mega Man is dead? New games don't pop up overnight, and they've said they're waiting for the right time to announce it. And even then, if the franchise WAS dead, that's their choice to make. Always has been.

My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts. So Walt Disney should not have made Micky Mouse because of him losing Oswald The Rabbit.
And Megaman is dead. X Over killed it.

What
I have a message from another time...Walt lost Oswald so he made Micky.
I like Mega Man.
I buy a Mega Man game whenever one comes out (excluding Battle Network, Star Force and XOVER).
Capcom isn't doing anything with the property and don't have the people behind it that I felt made it good.
This happened.
This is pretty much Mega Man.
This is the exact kind of game that I enjoy made by people that I recognize as making games I've enjoyed in the past.
Personally, I feel I'd be a fool for not supporting this.
Its the exact kind of game I enjoy, and to be able to directly support it is a unique opportunity as far as I'm concerned.
...I can see where a parallel might be drawn, but I get the feeling we started having different conversations a few posts ago.
As for Mega Man, there is his being in Smash Bros. Really don't think a weird iphone game ended his popularity when that happens.

I have a message from another time...that is how it worked, yes. but i hear Disney got the rights to Oswald back recently.
@Zeromaeus: i can tell you're supporting it. -glares at avatar-

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.You can't compare what happened with Oswald to this at all. Oswald was a singular vision that was primarily the result of Walt Disney's imagination that the company eventually forced him out of. Inafune left the company of his own accord.
Mega Man was the result of a project Inafune led after they lost the license to Astro Boy and the product of multiple creative minds, not just Inafune's.
My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts.I don't have a credit card, but I will definitely buy it if it gets published on Steam :D
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! To be honest, the pedigree is really only one factor for why this interests me. Another being just the kind of game it is, and how it looks so far. The concept for the transformation and xel powers look great, the boss designs so far are kinda cool, and the music rocks.
I was interested by Shovel Knight, and this also looks like fun.
I have a message from another time...Razorsaw: Actually, Walt did indeed take his ball and go home. He was given a choice to take a budget cut and lose control of his staff or lose the right to make Oswald toons.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.I don't really get what the hubbub is about. Inafune isn't technically making a Megaman game.

yes, I know, that's what I meant about him getting screwed over. They weren't offering him valid compensation for his work.
They never said anything like that about Inafune. From everything we've heard, the friction was due to ideas about game design and Inafune's dissatisfaction with the Japanese approach to game design. There was nothing about them not giving him his due, or trying to shortchange him like with Walt.
My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts.I guess it sort of makes sense that he'd eventually gravitate towards Kickstarter if he had issues with the Japanese mode of game design.
I have a message from another time...It's the inversion of Megaman In Name Only. This is basically Megaman in all but name. The mooks are even evocative of Metools and there's concept art for a Roll expy. Capcom might not have much of a case but I wouldn't be shocked if they raised a fuss.

You know, again on Kamiya and Devil May Cry... he actually DID have a case for being screwed over by Capcom, and he still made the protagonist of his next game thoroughly distinct from Dante.
What's Inafune's excuse?
My name has nothing to do with Psychonauts.Ahhh. I guess that is indeed a cause for concern, considering that stupider stuff have been taken to courts of law before.
Yeah, kind of think that Beck needs a bit of a re-design, if nothing else than to look a bit different than the old designs.
...though, I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the Call design that involves a not-Rush motorcycle.
I have a message from another time...Feeling less angry and more curious about how this could affect the future. If it does well, it could spark renewed interest in Mega Man since the game shares its talents, and maybe even competition with Mega Man, sort alike Mario and Sonic.
I won't support this project since I'd rather support Mega Man, but this could be interesting for both franchises.
The Protomen enhanced my life.
he DIDN'T create it. Akira Kitamura did.
