It was already linked, but it was not obvious. This is the last Trope Repair Shop thread for the same trope.

Locked due to inactivity, it was.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Rename to "Two Versions Same Campaign", perhaps?
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300What's wrong with this being a marketing trope?
IE something that the P Okemon Games and the Oracle games, and the Megaman Battle Network / Starforce games, the Bomberman MAX games etc. all have in common
This is releasing in two halves simultaneously to encourage people to either buy both, or buy one and connect with someone who has the other in order to unlock the full potential of either.
Then what becomes necesarry to fit and not be misuse is
- Simultaneous release - if they come out one after the other is more episodic
- Same or similar names, or same title with different subtitle
- Something core to the game design (either in terms of gameplay or narrative) that is limited by not connecting both
- Version exclusive content
Other things that are commonly associated but not necesarry
- Tradeable content
- Essentially exactly the same but with cosmetic differences
I agree; I see a need to clean the trope, not rename. The name itself is indicative of the trope.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
I'll give this a bump to say I agree that this is a marketing trope at its core, but please don't put those bullet points on the actual page.
Episodic Games should definitely not be here. They have their own trope, and they don't belong on this page. If there are no objections, I'd like to go ahead and chainsaw any examples that should be on Episodic Game.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Giving my assent to removing Episodic Game.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanChainsawed. I left the ones with simultaneous releases because they're more ambiguous as to where they fall, and Sonic And Knuckles is still weird.
There's a lot of natter here, incidentally.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Re @30:
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
BTW, I just started a YKTTW for Version Exclusive Content which may be able to help clear up some of the mess.
