Well, it's not supposed to be a new system, it's just supposed to be a simpler and cheaper version of the 3DS.
Granted, the lack of the clamshell design still seems pretty awkward.
Welcome to th:|Not really. This is basically the equivalent to the Game Boy Micro. It wasn't meant to be better than the XL or the regular 3DS.
What a useless thing.
Also, apparently Nintendo made it for little kids, because as we all know, little kids aren't smart enough to handle a regular 3DS.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.More like that the 3D effect causes headaches in children under 7.
Besides, this is more for people who want a 3DS but can't afford one. Or if they're just and entry level gamer.

Do you people realize it is essentially for people who can't afford the other models and/or kids who can't handle the 3D graphics, right? Yes, the 3DS had parental controls to block the effects, but try saying that to these people who never read the manual.
Personally, I think it is a good idea.
Oh, this is exactly what Microsoft did with the Xbox 360. I remember that, big success, Nintendo is smart to copy them.
Sarcasm aside, I just might get one if it has the virtual console still.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackAnd these competitive Pokémon players who buy both versions to keep farming legendaries will love the cheaper alternative.
What's the difference between a regular 3DS and the XL?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThe size.
Dumbothe XL is bigger
"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowXL is bigger, has better Start/Select/Home buttons, and the picture quality is a touch worse (since the image is blown up slightly compared to the vanilla 3DS).
Cider:It most likely would. I don't see why it wouldn't. If it can play online, why would there be no virtual console?
Meh, I just wish Nintendo made it look a lot better, ergonomically at the least. But a lot of people will jump for a cheaper 3DS, especially when they have enough bag space to house a tablet anyway.
Hey, buddy! Play this game! This was certainly unexpected. Does Nintendo really think there's a market for this? I get what it's for, but I wonder how many people will need it or be swayed by the lower cost. Well, can't hurt them.
How well did the micro do anyway?
Judging by the reactions I'm seeing in other places, people either want this because it's cheaper, or because their kids won't break it so easily.
And I think the Micro did pretty bad, but that was likely due to there being not much reason to get it.
Is switching the 3D off in the 3DS an option with all games?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerLet's not forget that the Micro came out after the DS. Sure, there were still GBA games being made, but the shift was already happening.
Before we get all up in arms, let's try to remember that this is not for us. This obviously has no appeal to people who already have a 3DS and take it with them wherever they go. It's for kids who can't use the 3D effect, or more casual gamers (note that it's essentially a tablet).
Yeah, all games let you turn the 3D off. No game requires 3D, though for certain ones the 3D makes things easier.
Might get this, since I need a second "3"DS as is for Pokemon.
I did see a pretty cheap regular used, though. About 10 dollars less than this. I might want the XL, though, seeing as I got huge hands and the regular cramps me up after a while.
This... Is really intriguing. Part of me thinks it's a stupid idea, part of me thinks it's pure genius. It's a bit ugly, but it's cheap. We'll see!
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonThe lack of the ability to close it is the only reason I'd rather the vanilla 3DS. Seems like it would be easier to break too.
Reviews say it feels pretty sturdy, but I think we'd need to take it apart to find out

"Yup. That tasted purple."
Somehow this looks like a step backwards.
