So, I'm writing a comedic webcomic about a group of teenagers. Something of a Widget Series. Anyway, I keep coming up with what I feel are ideas for story arcs that have great potential to be funny. I come up with a good premise, begin writing...and I suddenly can't do anything with it.

How do I make the most of an idea?

an idea is nice, but that doesn't mean you can do much.

take each premise and write one thing that you want to make different, or in this case, one thing you find funny about it.

Discard the ones that you can't think of anything for.

Try that?

Well, the reason there is a saying that premise means nothing is that you have your own universe and characters and the story always has unlimited potential to develop either way.But you can't predict which direction would be more "interesting" to your audience, since it's really subjective. Just write a story you want to tell.
