These spinoffs have no connection to Welcome to Night Vale story or setting wise, right?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. No connection at all.
They're just written by the same guys, and in the case of Within the Wires co-written with a British woman.
Having listened to the first episode of Within the Wires, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Much more psychological than WTNV or Alice.
Within the Wires feels like the more abstract parts of WTNV. Like, I'm starting to suspect Alice and Wires are glimpses into which parts of Night Vale are by which cowriter.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat is true. Though in the case of WTW we might also see some other stuff because this Janina person is also a writer as well as the narrator/voice actor.
I keep thinking Alice was written with a collaborator, probably because it's produced by Disparition.
Fresh-eyed movie blogSpecial intro from those involved on the show. Part 1 ends on July 12th. Now, go home again.
So it turns out "this sounds like Nightvale weather" sounds a tad crazy out of context.
Doesn't sound like it would be that crazy sounding. Is an odd phrase, but not something you'd think the person who said it was crazy if they said it.
Within the Wires updated. There is something up with the cassette tape voice lady.
The end of Part 1 of Alice isn't Dead
The Thistle Man is down! I repeat: The Thistle Man is down! And something is up with Bay & Creek.

We also now know the narrator's name, which is minor but still
So am I the only one here listening to Within the Wires?
I'm kind of wondering if the narrator is speaking to the same person every time.
I keep zoning out during Wires, so I don't really know what is going on with them.
It's become clear by the "not everyone who monitors the cameras cares for you the same amount" episode that the "relaxation tapes" are a way to smuggle messages to a specific inmate. The story is being told in the past tense, flashbacks to moments that lead to her being institutionalized, and in the future tense, detailing pieces of an escape plan.
What seems to be the case is that this is a society where children are separated from their families early in an effort to destroy the notion of a "family", as part of supporting the surveillance state in some way, but this inmate found her (twin?) sister, the state discovered she'd reconnected with her family, and abducted her for reeducation. Someone (her aformentioned sister?) has infiltrated the Institute with a scheme to liberate her, passing messages about this plan through the relaxation tapes.

Fresh-eyed movie blogit's very clear the recorder knows the addressed, mentioning gender and eye colour a very common eye colour granted but still eye colour, also knows all the stuff she owns. She the narrator is probably one of the camera monitors that care for her

She is probably the specific monitor on whose shift the Second Person Protagonist will need to make her move.
Fresh-eyed movie blogYear 5 starts now
Well, that was a strong start. I'm trying to remember exactly when Huntokar was last mentioned and I think it was a couple years ago.
titled: If He Had Lied
Okay Within The Wires voice person, is not a sister but a childhood friend who only remembers the listener from before she has brown hair and blue eyes, the listener remembers her sister but not her friend. She tells the listener how to survive.
