[up][up]I think you actually just showed why a character can have more than one contender for the title of archenemy—in any Rogues Gallery, some of those "mosts" are going to be filled out by different characters.

For instance, The Kingpin is the biggest bad in Daredevil's rogues gallery. He knows Matt's secret identity, and is the focal point of Daredevil's campaign against crime to the point of practically being the deuteragonist of the book. Yet it's Bullseye who is the most evil SOB whom DD has to contend with, and who is the foe that Matt hates the most, and undoubtedly the one it is most personal with. Both of them can make a legitimate claim to the title of Daredevil's archenemy.

The same applies to many other heroes. Joker is Batman's most persistent enemy (and the most evil), but R'as al-Ghul is the biggest, and Two-Face the most personal. Luthor is Superman's most persistent foe, Brainiac the biggest and the most evil (unless you count Darkseid, who I don't) and Zod the most personal. Ares is Wonder Woman's biggest bad, and the guy who she was sent into the world to counter Pre-and-Post-Crisis, but the Barbara Minerva Cheetah is the one she's fought the most, and Circe is her best ideological counterpart. The Mandarin is Iron Man's greatest adversary, the Crimson Dynamo the most recurring, and Justin Hammer was the most personal (he's Tony's enemy more than Iron Man's).

Because there are multiple ways to be someone's enemy, there is a possibility of having more than one contender for the title of archenemy.
