What? No no no, Chisame explicitly was stated to have become an extreme shut in by the epilogue. Very much not with anyone as far as anyone's aware. Hakase was the only one mentioned to getting hitched, with Godel of all people.

Don't worry, I forgot about damn near everyone except a handful of students (even Setsuna and Konoka!), so no big. The twins also slipped my mind, but its kind of easy to do when their partners literally only exist in a paragraph.

Hope I'm not too late to the party.

So, Chisame rejected Negi at the end, I can't really say it's a surprise considering that she eventually becomes a shut-in in the golden ending. In fact, this is consistent with the last time she spoke to Negi with what calling him out for leaving everyone behind and taking Asuna with him to the magical side of the world and the latter being implied to be the closest to him in the end. her rejecting him might also come from the idea that she might see herself as Asuna's replacement or shadow.

Aside from that, I guess that the purpose of this was to give Touta and the rest some context for the next recording that they have to see and a somewhat bitter reminder that even in the good end not all things work out as we think.

Wow. Just. Wow. The riddle of the ages has been solved. It just came with an "oh so convenient twist" to it. Stay classy Akamatsu.

I'm hoping that he gets enough character development now that UQ holder is monthly, he is not really that much of an idiot hero but his lack of self-doubt or self-consciousness to how less he is in comparison to Negi and Nagi makes him bland.

Given that it's been 100+ chapters, and the only things that made him somewhat novel flew out the window a long time ago, its unlikely. What's probably going to happen is that his character stagnates the same way Negi and Setsuna's did while regurgitating the same problem over and over.

That's not getting into the fact that everyone at this point except Santa (who fell off the map) are woefully underdeveloped and under utilized, so I really have no hope that any of its going to go anywhere, especially as long as the Negima content overshadows Holders.

Not the only one. Natsumi tied the knot with Kotaro, the twins hooked up with a couple of princes never seen onscreen, and Konoka and Setsuna got married all-but-explicitly to each other.

Man, this chapter just takes me back to when Negima ended, I bet Akamatsu was dying to do this part once and for all.

I guess that the ship Shinobu mentioned some chapters before is going to be plot relevant now that they need to go to Venus.

I wonder, since two types of magic are tied to planets like Mars and Venus (Magic Cancel and Magia Erebia), would it be possible to see Magic further tied to the other planets of the solar system or that's taking things too far?

I just love the fact that Asuna gave them a death glare of Magia Erebia proportions once they started with their nonsense.

Yeah, even those few glances of personality we had near the end of Negima are more barebones of character since they are c-list minor characters unlike Ako or even Takane.

You are right on the fact that the manga suffers from being too tied to Negima so stand on its own, for instance, I wish they could have explored more in detail each source of immortality for every single member of Touta's group (Karin's being the one I'm interested the most personally, with Kirie's and Kuromaru's next) and, hell, have something stuck on Touta for once instead of bouncing off by the end of the chapter: Cutlass's terrorist attack was perhaps one of the biggest missed opportunities Ken had to make him develop with what feeling the lack of power to protect those he cares or the innocents around him.

It's pretty clear to me now that this series is just roundabout way of tying up Negima's loose ends (leaving aside how well it accomplishes that) and everything else is just secondary window dressing.

It's taken you until now to realize this?

I suspected it from the moment Eva was confirmed a character and it was pretty much confirmed when Fate showed up.

Unfortunately, it appears to be the case given how Negima ended. I think the big issue is that UQ Holder needs to be both an internal ending for Negima and a sequel with a proper storyline, and with both series overlapping with each other, the original overshadows its sequel by default of being longer and more developed.

It's kind of a shame actually since I would like Negima to have its proper ending AND have UQ Holder separately instead of being fused I detriment of both.
