Insta read.

It can be about producing fertilizer for all I care, it's Ken Akamatsu.

[up]BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Oh, man, sorry, but if one sentence ever said "I haven't visited the Negima thread"....hehe...

...Ahem.

Anyway, the biggest thing that's grasped my curiosity is that we really know nothing about it but a name. Curious what Akamatsu's come up with after so long.

Hmm? Cause the ending to Negima was rushed?

That I know, Ken Akamatsu had to rush the ending because new policies being implemented by his publisher would have started to wrestle control of his own work and into their hands. It's a very bad situation and truly unfortunate that it ended like that, but I can understand why Ken couldn't continue his work to give it the ending he liked.

And that still doesn't change that Negima was an incredible manga, one I still cherish greatly to this day.

So yup, I'm exited to see what Akamatsu comes up with now.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

That's not quite the issue people have been complaining about, but I'm sick of hearing about that in the Negima thread already and will leave it at that. If you wanted to know, you would by now anyway.

I haven't gone anywhere near the Negima thread since it ended because I expected it to get buried in bitterness over the ending.

That and I was sick of the Who's Anya? jokes. I don't even like her myself, but this sites love of mocking certain characters endlessly (something I fully admit to being guilty of myself) can really wear away at my desire to be indifferent to characters I don't explicitly like.

As for what this one is about... No damn clue. I wonder if it will take place in the same world the way Mahou Sensei Negima and Love Hina did?

Well, he can draw. And has shown a (inconsistent) ability to produce pretty good plots and characters. Knowing nothing else, it seems worth checking out at any rate.

[up][up]All of his manga first non-one-shots take place in the same universe, and shortly after the previous one ended, so it'd make sense.

Hmmm I see Arha. Well, true, haven't been keeping with the Negima thread. Anyway, not important.

New Akamatsu manga, I'm excited about it, will comment more when I read the first chapter.

Man, Negima's ending was so terrible to me I can't even be excited for this. =/ Which sucks, because I used to be a huge fan of Akamatsu. I loved both Negima and Love Hina.

I will read, of course, but I just can't bring myself to be exited. I hope this work can make myself a fan of him again.

PS:I understand the circumstances of Negima's ending and don't blame Akamatsu for doing what he did. Still, the rushed ending hurt me deeply as I was a big fan. I understand this doesn't make Akamatsu any less of a writer, but I just can't bring myself to be overexcited as I originally was when Negima was first announced.

Wow, Ken announced his new manga on my birthday. I can't say it's the best birthday gift though, since there might be better birthday gifts in the future...

I don't think that the fact that the ending was rushed is what upset people, (well once we found out why), but the content of the ending itself which didn't resolve several factors is what hurt people. Basically the ending could of shown things like where Arika is and who Negi ends up with, but its the fact that Akamatsu chose not to reveal these which incurred the fan's wrath.

Okay so the name is actually "UQ Holder" and after looking at that plot description I am pretty sure that this is secretly a sequel to Negima...

Can someone update that title for this thread?

Secretly? I think I see adult Negi in the back.

And a girl with a Nodachi.

So, the main character is a boy from rural village far removed from civilization... Eh, okay lets go with that.

The adventure better be unique Akamatsu!

Having enjoyed Akamatsu's previous works, I'll be checking this out. Negima may have had certain, numerous problems with its ending, but it was good for about 85% of its run. Hopefully we'll actually see some of the consequences of magic being revealed to the world.

I hope we get to learn some of the world-building material Akamatsu so clearly had while writing Negima, but didn't use.

So... I'm assuming that it begins three years after the finale.

[up][up] Considering how this basically seems like "Negima 2.0", I wouldn't be surprised. One of my consistent talking points from the Negima thread was how Akamatsu left a lot of hints to ideas he clearly wanted to implement (my main example being the whole love story with the Narutakis).

Consider my interest piqued.
