StandardFPSGuns: Does it really need a Borderlands section?

Standard FPS Guns has an entire section on Borderlands. It's the only work to get a folder, every other folder is about, well, one of the standard FPS gun.

It reeks of someone who loved Borderlands deciding "yep, this is necessary information that this FPS has most of the Standard FPS Guns in it" which strikes me as silly as... well... the point of Standard FPS Guns is that they're common.

This is just a poorly formatted page in general. It should be sorted by medium, like normal.

I don't know if that's feasible since, by definition, it's pretty much an FPS-only trope.

That said, it may be better to make it so that it's broken down by work and demonstrating what each work does and doesn't have, rather than have every single work be in every folder.

... that said it sounds like a giant pain in the kiester. But it makes the most sense to me.

Would breaking it down by console generation work, mayhap?

I don't think that makes sense. Seems like breaking it down in categories for the sake of breaking it down in categories. Is there a difference in what weapons games used in different generations?

Could chronicle how it's gotten increasingly common for games to have more of them.

I'm just sort of at a loss as to any other way to organize them, though I suppose we could just go alphabetical by game.

What's wrong with sorting it by gun?

It's unusual, and leads to plenty of games having a dozen separate entries on the page.

I personally don't know if that's enough of a reason go through the (incredibly arduous seeming) process of resorting them, though.

Mmm. Multiple entries for each work would be a mark against it, but it is more problematic that the Borderlands folder makes the organisation inconsistent.

Now, I'd yank the Borderlands section and just put the examples in their appropriate folders, except I don't want to do that if we're going to eventually sort them by game anyway.

These weapons form a pattern and that pattern is the trope. Breaking up the examples by gun hides the pattern and degenerates the page into a "list of games that have a pistol," "list of games that have a shotgun," and so on.

It's kind of what I was thinking. It's a standard set of guns, not a bunch of guns that are commonly used independently of each other.

Makes sense. Should this maybe go in Short Term Projects? Or should I just begin on it?

The question is how to sort the examples, yes? I would go for alphabetic.

How the games are sorted isn't really important, we could have them in random order and put new examples in the bottom, alphabeticaly, or whatever.

What's important is that the games don't get multiple examples.(/examples split up in different folders.)

This:

• Game1: List weapons, bla bla bla.
• Game A: Knife bla bla bla, chainsaw bla bla bla, bla bla bla shotgun.
• Game2 has a double-barreled pump-action.

... this is gonna be fun, huh? Do we have enough consensus to at least reshuffle so it's not divided by gun, but rather by game?
