The boss uses Ao E attacks and arts you do not get till the third game so grouping up is very bad, he also knocks characters all the way across the map so grouping up does not last long.

It's the hardest fight in that game by far, the final boss is way easier than him, but losing does not mean game over. I beat him after like my 7th try or so, which did include loading an earlier save file to buy what I needed and remove piece of gear off other characters, it was damn satisfying.

Earth Shield does help if you think he is going to S-Craft you though, forgot about that. Arts have unlimited range as well.

I don't have any of those. I have basic Clock Ups, I didn't know there wouldn't be any ways to grind after the sewer segment. The problem with my party is not the confusion, the debuffs, or taking away my arts, it's that I can't kill him fast enough.

Estelle's Barrage does about 2800 damage when combined with Kloe's max S-S-Break, Schera's only does about 1100, and no matter how many times I use Heaven's Kiss combined with several Clock Ups, it's not enough to take him out before he throws up an Earth Wall, then heals himself before the turn is over.

I don't have any Impede Quartz or Action 3s, those were with Joshua's party.

Yeah, after about a hundred tries I decided to quit before I get burned out before the finale.

I just spent well over an hour grinding Poms outside Carnelia Tower. For my trouble I now have 3000 of every sepith for the achievement, and everyone has all their crafts. Needless to say the men in black are DEAD MEAT and also the rest of the game is going to be a lot easier thanks to having so many new quartz.

So, I bought infinite Undiscovery today. I can't wait to try it out. What should I expect when playing this game?

5$ says you will still lose to the boss Tropers/Darkabomination constantly lost to. wink

Anyway Pom grinding is alright for now, however XP has diminishing returns the enemies will eventually catch up to you as you do not receive as much XP.

@Memers: We both know that's a suckers bet. evil grin

And the main purpose of the Poms hunting was achievement hunting sepith grinding for quartz purposes. I've got enough sepith to equip every character in the game with Action 2, Cast 2 and EP Cut 2.

Though I DO like that Estelle and Joshua are both the same level as Zin.

EDIT: Also, I'm desperately curious: four towers. They anything like the Four Elemental Lighthouses? Will take a Y/N response (how appropriate!) via message.

Spoiler for very near the end of FC, just in case.

Okay, what the fuck? Robots were probably the last thing I'd expect to see in this game. It's way, way above what I assume the ancients were capable of.

Also this battle is a bitch. Three rounds, no saves. It's great the first and second refill your health and EP, but the third does not, which left me at such a disadvantage that I had to reset. Now I'm hoarding all my S-Breaks until I resume where I've left off.

[up][up]Haha my bad. Basically: in Golden Sun there are four Elemental Lighthouses at the foir corners of the world, Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus. The lighthouses are sealing the power that nearly blew up the world, but you can break the seal with the four "Stars" locked up in a vault at the center of the world. Drop the Mercury Star into the hole at the top of the lighthouse and the beacon reignites.

The set up in FC is strikingly similar, except on a national level instead of global. Oh and the lighthouses are two per game instead of being BonusDungeons in one and (apparently?) plot relevant in the second. PSA: Play Golden Sun folks, the original duology is pretty great.

Oh yeah I'm grinding the materials to make a second Action 3 for immediate use. My grinding spree kept me ahead of the curve until the tournament. Lorence was tiresome but the one that SUCKED were the Ravens. Underestimated them, got my ass kicked. Also Olivier left my party carrying my Gladiator's Helm and Belt, which is SO typical.

Oh, then umm then yes it is sealing something. They are color coded too, its probably a reference.

When Olivier left you should have gotten all your gear and accessories back.

As a tip for the end boss of that chapter buy stuff that prevents Confuse and Deathblow, have lots of food stocked up that ups defense, arts defense, cures Mute and full heal from KO. Have the absolute best setup for the girls of the party as well.

[up][up] Its actually 4 fights if you are above Bracer Rank 5, the 4th is kinda a joke. But yeah that third one is nasty, gotta just burn the shit out of him when he hits 33%.

When a character leaves mid-chapter and rejoins later you don't get their gear. He's back now so it's all good. Anyway yeah I'm making my own run at the endgame. I've got the sepith on hand for most of the orbments I need for the uber-boss though, but I'll need to remember to unequip them from the advance party at the right time. I also spent money on equipment—and I NEVER spend money on equipment. evil grin

I think I'll take a break after finishing FC—I can feel burnout building from having mainlined this game these last two weeks. Enjoying it though—just want to enjoy the sequel as much!

EDIT: GOT HIIIIIIM! First try and on Hard Mode lol. Had more trouble with El Duque because I couldn't kill him for the bonus. Kloe's debuff was the MV craft.

EDIT 2: Holy SHIT that is some rocking Definitely Final Dungeon music out of nowhere. I should have expected it given Falcom's pedigree, but I did not.

Still stuck on this fight. I can't remember, what's the Quartz combo for Earth Wall? I'm having Tita learn it to make up for her crap health, need the party to stay alive long enough to get off a decent amount of White Gehenas and Blue Impacts.

[up] [up] [up] Yeah, Hollow Light of the Sealed Land is a fantastic track, really milks that reoccurring theme for all its worth.

Four Earth. Equipping a Defense 3 is enough to get it.

Speaking of you should have one of those on every character and maybe consider swapping Titta out. I love her Crafts but her awful HP pool is the reason I went with Olivier over her. Consider Kloe or Agate as a replacement, Agate's a tank and Kloe has the game's best debuff. Get her 200 CP before the boss starts and cast it every two turns. She's a good candidate for the Gladiator's Belt now that I think about it.

I just started playing Infinite Undiscovery today. It's alright so far. The art is pretty and the story seems interesting but I do feel that the combat is a bit wonky. Also, some of the voice acting is a bit wooden. It's not awful, though. I'll play some more when I get the chance.

I don't have much in the way of expectations for Lost Sphear.

Setsuna had a little bit going for it (good music, decent character designs, etc) but it was overall quite a mediocre experience. its writing especially was quite underwhelming. The trailer doesn't make it look like this will be much different, although it's nice that we're getting more variety in locales this time.

[up][up][up][up] I would say switch Tita out for Kloe or Zane depending on the other member of your party.

I never used Tita if I didn't have to until 3 when she gets massively buffed, the HP and lack of a great arts stat really huts her.

Kloe is the main healer of the cast, Estelle should be your backup healer to Kloe. Zane is the tank and with Distend can hit like a truck with basic attacks, he is so hard to kill, give him Move 3 and Action 3 he can also rez people with food. For offensive arts Olivier or Kloe work alright, the selection of arts based characters gets better next game.

I'd argue Kloe's worth it solely on the basis of her Crafts. Her orbment requiring three water quartz makes Olivier a better spellcaster but Kloe can halve one enemy's attack and defense. You can No-Sell Lorence's crafts on Hard when he's debuffed like that.

Also Tita is absolute murder if you're fighting enemies you can blind. Her first craft turns encounters into EZ Mode encounters because enemies miss 90% of the time. The downside is that she's defensive tissue paper.

Kloe has the highest arts stat out of anyone till you get to Sky 3 the 3 water dont really hurt since Mind is a water quartz, unfortunately she doesn't get a good offensive S-Craft till the second game and it doesn't work off the correct stat till the third.

Olivier is more well rounded but still a good choice if Kloe is busy healing.

Yeah Tita is good for trash but this is the final boss he is working on. When you start to get +20% status effect per hit quartz and large aoe cannons in Sky 2 she gets even better at that. In Sky 3 she can sacrifice a turn, her aoe and her S-Craft to gain 100% HP, 20% Attack and Defense and new normal crafts.

Man we need a good on trash bad on bosses character trope, there are so many of them in JRP Gs. Like her till 3 and Naoto in vanilla Persona 4.

True, but Olivier's open slots mean you can have Action 3, Cast 2 and EP Cut 3 installed before deciding your spell complement. With Kloe you're locked into Mind 3, HP 3 and either Heal or Freeze before you get to choose.

Like, efficiency wise, install EP Cut 2 and HP 3 into Estelle's 5 and 6 and you've got La Tearal which can probably cover your healing needs. At that point Kloe's main benefit is Kaempfer's kickass debuff.

One quick wikiwalk and it looks like you've found a trope we don't have yet. Looks like a launchpad candidate. smile
