The protagonist and Unfazed Everywoman of Crimson, Rachel Hosseini, was initially loosely based off my old math team captain, except Rachel is Iranian-American instead of Egyptian-American, and an accountant instead of a biologist. There's been a lot of Divergent Character Evolution since then, since Rachel was a Breakout Character, but both remain straight women to an eccentric gadfly; Rachel is to Aseyu what my math team coach was to myself. Not sure how she'd feel about it.

Little aspects of people I know show up in certain characters, but they are never carbon copies. That would be a bit presumptuous.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Almost all of my characters are partly based off of me, someone I know, and/or some obscure or not-so-obscure historical figure, although in the last case I usually take considerable liberties. Call it lazy if you like, but they usually turn out better that way.

"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."Almost all of my characters are based of of myself or someone I know, but about 9 times out of 10 they gradually diverge as I get a better handle on them. I've also had a few situations where I meet someone who is like a character I've already created and some of their traits influence where the character is headed. I've found it's a useful tool if you are stuck, but it should only be the base of the character, not the entirety of them. Most of the situations I put my characters through cause a good deal of divergence from the real people who inspired them to begin with.
So far I've based a few characters on people I've seen in real life, mostly famous people.
Three of my my characters are named after three of my friends, with one of them having a variation on her name. For the most part, personality wise my characters are good people, and they're good people, but the similarities end there.
They were flattered, natch.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefI try not to but it happens. When I had my first boyfriend, I ended up imagining my love interest character looking similar to him, which really killed a bit of my enthusiasm for the character when we broke up. I've since worked over his character a lot so that they aren't similar anymore and look radically different.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.
I based some aspects of my character Misako off my best friend Ella, but Ella doesn't seem to mind...
