Well my point was more, if Aquaman is going to be reduced to another smasher/brawler type and his water abilities are going to be completely irrelevant to his fighting style and the plot, I can see why they just went with another Flying Brick instead. Might as well use a brick instead of trying to force Aquaman into that mold.

Except that Aquaman could feasibly be interesting and the real reason he was replaced was likely the stupid "LO Lhetalkstofishandisuseless" meme.

He uses a trident which is like a combination bo staff and spear (neither of which Wonder Woman is famous for), is exceptionally strong and fast, looks bitchin with a beard and if the chips are down he can use his psychic abilities on mammalian creatures and give people an aneurysm.

Eh it looks like something an evil alternate universe counterpart would wear to me.

It looks less American flag which makes sense given she's not American.

I would prefer that in abandoning the American flag motif they went a little more toward actual greek armor or something rather than an underarmor leotard.

[up]Seriously, dude? Using 'gay' as an insult? Grow the fuck up. What are you, thirteen?

It's too little 'Greek warrior' and too much 'Bland generic superheroine design'.

Thanks mod now I'm curious what his posts said.

And besides Wonder Woman grew up on an island of hot ladies. I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if she was gay.

And she is from an Ancient Greek culture so she's probably at least bi.

[up]There was an actual issue of Justice League that more or less stated as much.

No, seriously.

[up]That sounds more like a Take That! joke at men than a serious point in favor of alternative lifestyles.

Personally, I would have no problem with Diana being Bi or Gay. It makes a heck of a lot more sense than retconning Batwoman into a lesbian.

I guess the REAL problem is that too many people cannot seem to avoid equaling "warrior from an all-female culture" with "manhater" as in the joke above. Sigh.

As for the new costume: meh. It's not bad, but it's not iconic- just like the new Superman/Man of Steel's. You really shouldn't mess with a classic design.

[up]Uhm, no. The Silver Age Batwoman and the modern Batwoman are two completely different characters. Kate Kane was meant to be a lesbian when she was conceived.

Honestly, I don't like the collar. I wouldn't mind if they add shoulder straps, minimize cleavage and cover up the legs (all inherent with wearing a leotard) but it lost a lot of the touches that make the WW costume iconic. I initially didn't like the loss of gold for the belt and bust but the silver that replaced it would be better if it was more pronounced, which I think all goes back to the collar.

It looks like a recolored version of something Ice or Fire might wear.
