I don't think that was the intention. I think it was more Hedorah had a scene that was cut and they didn't want to waste the costume.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great"could easily be interpreted" is Weasel Wording, so it's probably nothing but fan wanking, and thus not an example.
[edit] It could be removed... except I already did it, right after making this post.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpWell I guess it should be edited off the page then. I was just looking for talk about Hedorah ya know, 'cause I love that monster and that movie, and stumbled upon that entry.

Could someone who actually watched the movie verify that the King of the Monsters was only onscreen for EIGHT minutes of the movie's 123 minute running time? Another reckoning says it's more like eleven minutes, but I still say that's too little.

Nah, more like 20, really.
About the same as the other movies in the franchise, for the most part.

Watch SymphogearJust a reminder that it's not that Godzilla's screentime was necessarily the problem, just that director here seemed to take delight in trolling the audience by playing kaiju peek-a-boo. It's okay to have him on screen for only twenty minutes if it's an epic twenty minutes. Not so much when it'd be him tail-whipping something and then cut to the cookie-cutter humans.
Except that happened in his first appearance in the original movie, we only get a shot of his foot crushing a building, then it's back to the human story.
Watch SymphogearPersonally, I found the human story more interesting in the original because Godzilla is a new thing in and out of universe.
In the new godzilla the audience all knows godzilla and they're waiting to see godzilla. I think that's why there was a negative reaction to the peekaboo.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersRight, you can't do a reboot the same way you did the original. In the original (which I hadn't seen), Godzilla was something bright and new. Scenes like that contribute to buildup when you see the big guy for the first time. You don't have as much leeway in reboots, though. Everyone knows what Godzilla is and what he looks like, so it doesn't have the same effect. Instead of feeling like a build-up, it feels like you're the baby in a carriage while your drunken aunt keeps teasing you with a rattle and pulling it out of reach when you try to grab for it.
Is the regular DVD less dark? I'm really angry for the Blu-Ray
Cinema Sins did a video for this movie.
They did one for Your precious Pacific Rim, too.
Watch SymphogearI know. Just like to link the videos.
Also, I don't dislike this movie. Just feel that it could have done with a bit more focus on Godzilla and less on one of the most boring human characters I've ever seen.
Basically, the complaints that have been repeated since the film opened.
Addition: The more Godzilla shows up, the lower the film quality has been. Look at any Godzilla film with Godzilla Jr.

Someone's angry over nothing.
what Geth Knight said can be applied to your post.
Also. Geth Knight meant Minya, not Heisei Godzilla junior.

Watch SymphogearI loved that the Atomic Breath wasn't used right away. It's a weapon that, when used too much, becomes boring and you end up having to use it to fly so that it's cool again. And even then it's still a stupid idea and I can't believe it was even implemented, good fucking God the 70s were a weird time for everyone .

Not that stupid if you see Godzilla as being like a dragon. Because then you ask why wouldn't he breath fire? It being atomic is just because he's a nuclear dragon.
That's not how a dragon works. A flying dragon would have wings, and might be a glider. They'd use the fire breath to warm the air around them and create artificial thermals they could float higher on.
Oh. I'm sure they had a Perfectly Good ReasonTM for that.
Yeah, they wanted the movie to stand out above the rest of the Godzilla flicks.
Saw this today.
It had some problems, but overall, I thought it was pretty good.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Rewatching some of the Heisei Gamera trilogy, its odd how much it reminds me of what Godzilla was trying to do.
The mystic-ishness would even fit well in those movies, Gamera being a super turtle built by atlantis maybe to protect the Earth by getting into exciting monster vs monster fights.

So I don't know if this is like the General Godzilla Franchise Thread or not but I was reading the Godzilla Trope Page and came across this:
If this is true, then that Tanaka guy is a real jerk and I hate Final Wars even more than I used to. Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster is one of my favorite Showa films. (and Showa is my favorite era)
