Four years?
They must seriously be planning to up the CGI if it's gonna take that long.
I hope they keep the human perspective, and that Ken Watanabe's character gets more focus.
I hope we get a man-in-a-suit this time.
Oh wait, Ken Watanabe wore a suit. A very nice one too. That covers it.
Assuming he shows up, I'd like for them to make King Ghidorah's ax-craziness, intelligence, and sadism a plot point, and if possible played for horror. Nothing quite like discovering that not all kaiju do what they do out of instinctual habit. We were lucky to get Godzilla and the MUT Os.
If you're going to make a single Kaiju have Raptor levels of intelligence, it would have to be him.
It would be great if our humans thought he was laying a trap for Godzilla, but actually it was a trap for them.
All your brave little warriors, all in a row...
After obliterating any vehicular means of escape, I can see KG corralling the survivors. After that, well, the sport begins in earnest. No one gets eaten, no. Instead, they get vaporised one-by-one via precise lightning bolts. There's not a thing they can do but scramble like animals and wait for death. As the fear, panic, and resignation grow, Ghidorah cackles louder and louder...
Jest watched it.
Very disappointed.
They kill off Bryan Cranston too soon, and we have no Heavy central character to carry the film. The son is impossibly bland.
The monster brawl were also very lacking in awesomeness. I can't help but compare it to Pacific Rim, and the comparison is somewhat unfavourable. The movie doesn't go deep enough into the terror & despair angle to feel like a viable powerful alternative. There's also way way waaaaaaay too much military, and, what's worse, military with an Idiot Ball the size of San Francisco. Starting with the idiocy of planes flying suicidally close to the damned creatures.
This could have been a smart movie pretending to be dumb, like PR. It could have been a smart movie period, like Edge Of Tomorrow.
Instead it's a just plain dumb disaster movie in the vein of Film/{{2012}} or The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, with no power and no personality.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Not much of an argument there, hm.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I liked the Godzilla in this movie. He reminded me of this grumpy old man tired of kids fucking around on his lawn.
Oh really when?He was the coolest thing in the movie and it's a pity we don't see more of him. The Mutos were... uninspiring. And there was way too much of them.
The Developing Doomed Characters were worse than uninspiring.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Think of it this way.
If this movie didn't succeed in theaters, pacific rim wouldn't have gotten a sequel.
Same with this one, except it's getting a full trilogy, with the next movie having Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah at once.

Watch SymphogearThat sounds awesome. Maybe this time we'll have eerie Japanese mikos that actually are eerie, instead of looking like cosplayers grabbed from the nearest high school. That kind of Green Aesop is a Discredited Trope, so they should definitely go for a new angle. I'd suggest something along these lines.
But PR really doesn't need a sequel. I'm genuinely afraid that it'll suffer the same fate as The Matrix, that the sequels will ruin it.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Pacific Rim will also have a japanese animated series as well, that takes place between 1 and 2

Watch SymphogearWhy wouldn't there be a large military presence? Who else would they show besides the scientists and military types?
Stand Fast, Stand Strong, Stand TogetherSo the movie is out on Xbox Video now. My brother doesn't want to watch it though, sad face :(
Politicians, reporters, engineers, policemen, firemen...
Also, more than just two scientists, or if you're going to have just two, make them fun to watch.
Also, in general, characters with a little bit of personality. Everyone behaved like Bethesda characters, everyone was phoning it in.
Again, except for Cranston. What the heck was the deal with that?

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Apparently, some putz, some dick, some yo-yo at Warner decided to mess with the color on the Blu-Ray and not it's too dark to see anything. Don't buy the Blu-Ray.
Also, Handle, I strongly disagree with everything you said about this movie, but we may have to take that to P Ms if it goes on too long.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatFinished it today, haven't changed my mind. The movie is very, very shallow in every respect. It has lots of surface realism-of-grittiness, but it's otherwise empty of geniune emotion, and the plot is so predictable there isn't even a shred of tension. Even the awe at Godzilla's reawakening (like they'd kill him off so lightly) felt forced and stilted.
Also way way waaaaay too much black and dark everywhere. But maybe it's just the BDVD.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The Pacific Rim sequel has me excited because the ideas Del Toro has been discussing all involve exploring the really interesting unanswered questions, rather than just rehashing the first movie.

Remember Godzilla The Animated Series? That was fun.
Oh man, I love that cartoon so much. I binged on that on Netflix the other day, it still holds up.
Also, Godzilla porked Zilla for that baby to exist. As we've said.
My various fanfics.I'm glad that they've made up their differences from Final Wars.
I know they got off on the wrong foot but they actually had a lot in common.
Being single parents, being gigantic lizards that nobody understands, radiation.
That sort of thing.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
I hope this time, Godzilla actually leaves a Godzilla-shaped hole in a skyscraper, like we saw in the teaser trailer.
