Referring to the Unites States and "The Union" or "This Union of States" started falling out of favor some time after the Civil War. It was more common before the war when the idea of the nation was still viewed as more of a confederation of states rather than one indivisible entity.
He didn't succeed. I don't know where is he now, but some firecrackers is still there. In the tiny garden between the roads.
That almost sounded like a poem when I read it.

The only reason why the Americans survived afterwards is because the Canadian and British forces got too drunk afterwards and decided to back up to Toronto.
