Is it plausible for a family lineage to have members who worked as intelligence officers for their country?

I know about a military tradition but not so sure about this one.

Well, it happens in Alex Rider. It would probably be a secret to the younger members of the family until they're ready to become spies themselves.

If it's for a national agency, it's a tradition of service, and yes, it happens there just like it happens in regular military.
