I searched and searched and what did I find? Well, no sort of Pet Advice thread. So, here it is for people to ask questions and give advice to other pet-owning tropers.

My question is: I really wanted another snake after having one when I was a child. I've been doing my research and decided on a corn snake, since they're even easier going than ball pythons and very easy to take care of. HOWEVAH! In my research I discovered a trend towards unhealthy breeding and care practices, especially among private breeders in order to achieve the beautiful range of colors that have been achieved. So, should I feel bad for wanting one of the amazing bloodreds like I had when I was a kid or should I just buy whichever one I like?

Also, I am kind of leaning towards a more mature, larger snake, just to be sure that it isn't just an older snake that has been underfed to keep the "Cute, just hatched look." Any thoughts?

There are two sides to this problem. If you get the possibly underfed snake you're implicitly supporting the cruel industry practices. On the other hand, if you don't get it will continue to be underfed. You're essentially rescuing it, on an individual level.

This is true. >.>

The questions! They never cease. Also, I could always check out herpetological rescue centers.

^^ Not "implicitly" supporting it. "Explicitly and financially" supporting it in effect. The reason you buy it won't matter a bit to the breeder who kept it underfed; all he'll see or care about is that doing so got him money. Going through one of the rescue organizations sounds like an excellent idea.
