Human Rights Crisis in Greece

That murder was a long awaited "opportunity" for the goverment to get rid of the Golden Dawn. They'll pin on them anything they can think of. Of course, that doesn't make the neo-nazis guiltless. They have probably commited most of that stuff, just not all of it.

It's a classic tactic when a government wants to take somebody down, throw every crime you can at them and see what sticks. Especially with a group like this, your sure to turn up something.

I dislike authoritarian crackdowns on political parties on principle. Even this one.

I'm not sure how much I believe of the police charges; I'll wait for the trial. But seriously, it does seem like they tried to find everything that would make them look bad.

One hopes that the EU will be monitoring legal proceedings carefully, to make sure not only that there is no funny business, but also that Golden Dawn can't claim that there was funny business.

That would seem likely if it were anyone but the Golden Dawn. They're literally a criminal gang masquerading as a political party, and have extensive business interests in human trafficking (ironically enough, considering their ideology) and pornography. Yes, the two are related, and combined with how unfussy they are about the age of their victims, that covers most of the charges on that rapsheet. In fact, it turned out that the head of Greece's department on organised crime and human trafficking was in their pocket.

Could be but I think it's unlikely. To put it bluntly, we don't have much of an industy anymore so that we have to dump toxic waste into the sea. That incident migh have had something to do with drug smuggling or illegal immigration. Of course, it could have simply been a boating accident.

In other news, Mihaloliakos has been remanded in custody along with Golden Dawn MO Ioannis Lagos, the head of GLs Nikea chapter and police officer affiliated with the organization. Three other P.Ms. (Pangiotaros, Michos and Kasidiaris) were released but they are forbidden to leave the country. The charges still stand.

hmm.and now we had attacks at an office of Golden Dawn.this is gonna end badly.

Correct: Two members of Greece's Golden Dawn shot dead in a drive-by shooting.

Man, they're going to have trouble narrowing down who isn't a suspect for that one.

also a seriously injured member iirc.

now lets see who the suspects are,and who will be the faulty party.

though i'm a bit unsure how will this unfold.seen people on the news already blame the far left (thats the proper term?) parties as being responsible.

not sure if the ones in the parliament(also not sure if the proper term) could be behind them.even if GD 's reputation is trash at the moment,i cant see them being idiotic enough to do such a thing.though i think its sure they'll be part of the blaming game this time.

hope the injured guy makes it through.

that'd be interesting.though they'd really be pushing their luck after what happened to solve them that way.

i think cast a "distrust vote" or something towards the goverment?if 151 of the parliament agree then there goes this goverment.

kinda doubt if it'll even get 100 votes out,but this is going to have its effect either way.

ah,we also recently had people from the Navy)warning:i do not know the proper word for this,as usual.its probably not the navy.maybe the coast guard or whatever) go over to some illegal immigrants by sea who were having trouble due to the weather,and kicking them back in their sinking boats apparently.
