Okay, a few months ago, I had an idea for an RP of a different type than what we usually play. It was a variant of the Nations Games on Alternate History Dot Com and was heavily inspired by games like Total War, Europa Universalis, Hearts Of Iron, Empire Earth, and the like.
Basically, rather than focusing solely on individual characters, players play as factions and interact with each other via war, diplomacy, economics, and conquest. That being said, in my version of these Grand Conquest Role-Plays, or CGRP's, you CAN create a leader for your country or faction, think of them as a Historical Original Character. And yes, they can interact with other individual leaders
The outcomes of wars, technological research, and economics will be determined by a random number generator, while diplomacy will be determined by player interactions with each other. There would be at least two or three GM's needed for larger games, but a small one could pull off using one GM.
This kind of game can be applied for multiple settings, from History and Alternate History to Fantasy and Sci-Fi.
Would any of you guys want to give another try of my idea for a new format, the Grand Strategy Role-Play? And if so, what setting?
There were two Grand Conquest Role-Plays that actually took off for a while, one was named "Imperial Glory" and was themed around The Renaissance and The Cavalier Years and the other was titled "East vs. West" which was about the Cold War, but eventually petered out due to me getting distracted and neglecting my duties as GM due to school and other things.
Well, now I am on summer break until late August when I return to Community College and until then, I have plenty of free time so this time I won't get distracted and neglectful.
So guys, do you guys want to give this another chance? Do you want to do a Grand Conquest Role-Play and try another theme? Or should we revive Imperial Glory or East vs. West?
