Well, if what I hear is true, only the main trio, Amy, and Eggman will appear. Not bad, considering they lack of Character Development besides the adventure games and Chronicles (That is not even canon). But, I just hope this is not an Ultimate Spiderman/Teen Titans Go! kind of show. Instead, an Spectacular Spiderman/ Teen Titans kind of adaptation could be a very good choice...

But, I bet the return of Sonic to the TV will make the recolor characters return. Kudos.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

Considering the shows the guy worked on, it would probably have an MLP vibe.[lol]

I wish there was some sign this exists. Well, for now, we must stick to The only radicaly awesome AND FINISHED Sonic series.

I'd prefer a gag-based Sonic series, personally. I was never a fan of Sat AM myself, it took itself way too seriously for my tastes.

Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog was gag based.

It also wasn't all that good. I mean, Scratch and Grounder.

Orbot and Cubot, and Decoe and Bocce at least had some semblance of actual comedy value as Eggman Robotnik sidekicks go.

[up]Nope, not ever confirmation that cartoon is real.

I thought Aosth was good in places. The humor was good at times and it had lots of neat extra depths (eg. probably the most developed interpretation of Sonic and Tails' relationship). It's just the rest was kinda corny or awkward and relying to much on recycling from old Looney Tunes tropes (the slapstick was fun but did Sonic really have to copy Bugs' dress up acts?).

The same could be said of almost all the Sonic cartoons really, they had neat ideas, but only so many were good in execution, and a lot of times they relied too much on copying some popular gimmick than trying to bring Sonic to life.

I suppose this problem may occur with Boom, since the links may imply the creators will try too hard to do to Sonic what they did with FIM.

We haven't heard anything on new characters however, which are often the make or break stipulation of each cartoon, especially since they usually end up a Spotlight-Stealing Squad (eg. Scratch and Grounder, Sally Acorn, Chris Thorndyke and Sonia and Manic).

@maxwellelvis: I actually kinda give credit to Aosth since it was about the only Sonic cartoon that didn't seep of pretentiousness, and trying to make itself to be more deep and mature than it really was. Satam at least tried to moderate it with some amount of whimsy, but even then it obviously suffered this problem.

Hey, if you want to see a continuation of the story from SatAM, there's the comics. All things considered, they're virtually the same story to a point, with the divergence only really coming in the form of other characters and stuff that, well, necessitated being different considering the fact that it's been going on for about as long as the video game series itself.

If this is real, Sonic Boom better be the theme song.

[up]If not, i'm going on a sonic-powered rampage jumping and running over people. Then ask nicely for them to change it.
I could settle for tangentially-related music

[up] And for the record comics are much better that Satam. To me each cartoon found its own way to be good and sucky at the same time. Adventures was completly crazy and random, but it was kinda funny and there were suprising moments of good writing. Satam had a good premise, but also weak writing. And Antoine. Underground had fun writing but was also repetitive and almost any idea that wasnt stolen from Satam was just bizzare. X is just kinda bland to me. there few very bland characters (Cream), few annoying (Decoe and Bocoe) and very few actually cool (Rouge).

Meh. As a longtime fan of the comics who'd read every issue up to around 207 (really need to get back to that), I can't exactly call the comics much better than good. They're a huge mixed bag. There's potential everywhere, but it consistently falls short of it.

Then again, I'd been meaning to go back and reread the series eventually. When I get the time, perhaps I should do that.

Truthfully I find the comics one of the blandest forms of Sonic, since it's exactly why I DON'T like the more serious interpretations, taking away the Sonic feel of the story in favor of cliched 'mature' gimmicks and actually making thoroughly bland characters as a result of over focusing on melodrama and pretentious plot twists. I'll say this a thousand times over, complex back stories and tragic events mean nothing if you don't give the character a basic personality, something the more comical medias at least usually succeed in doing.

I'm kinda hopeful this might be moderated with this version, since it's made by part of the team that can make far more believable and multi faceted characters in a far more light hearted backdrop.

I wouldn't mind a new Sonic cartoon in the same vein as Sonic X. Most episode were standalone "Sonic defeats Eggman's robot of the week" and later on it could adapt Unleashed, Colors, and Generations into an arc.

[up]I wouldn't mind something that sorta played in between Sonic X and Aosth's formula, albeit with less of either's repetition and a bit more focus on Sonic himself.

I remember liking the Sonic X comics because it was essentially this.

[up][up]If they we're going to make this show, I really hope they use that exact plot: An arc of a different Sonic game for every season, with some whitty humor based on Aosth. Hopefully, we hear Robotnik/Eggman say this again.[lol]

'Whitty' humor, you say? Pardon, but that show isn't exactly a bastion of wit. It's goofy, silly fun, but not really what can be reasonably be called witty.

[up]1.Thanks for the grammar nazi lesson. 2.It's a whole lot "wittier" than the recent Sonic X cartoon, which seemed to play on many has-been anime tropes. 3.Why is it that on every thread I go on, you have to voice a negative opinion on me or an idea?

Psi 001, I think modern comics got better. But that's discussion for different topic.

[up]Better but not good in my view.

Concerning Sonic X, I think it was a tad too formulaic as a result of following anime conventions too closely. The action scenes were usually rather generic, especially since Sonic was so infallible in that interpretation.

I kinda preferred how Aosth set it out due to the goofiness giving it more variety and character. Robotnik had more versatility than just sending giant bots onto Sonic (eg. shrink rays, time machines) and, while still very buffoonish, was actually allowed to pose a threat at times. Sonic meanwhile had more character than a generic shonen hero and his manner of defeating the baddies' schemes were more elaborate and amusing (if sometimes based to much on a Bugs Bunny premise).

Maybe this is why I liked the Sonic X comics, which basically took Sonic X anime and added some of Aosth's uncompromised wackiness.

I think the Unleashed cutscenes also set a good example how to set up Sonic action animation wise.

This is why I tend to resent the more serious works, they try to nuance this trademark goofiness despite it making so much of Sonic's charm and character. The action is generic, the characters are dull and the serious plots come off laughable since they're still enacted by candy colored anthros. I don't think making Sonic 'witty' or 'deep' is important as making it fun.

[up][up]OK, that your opinion and I respect it. But if you ask me Sonic X comics removed japanese clishes and replaced them with american ones. Like that time Eggman fired Decoe and Bocoe and replaced them with better robots, that latter rebeled against him. The only one I really like was when Eggman went crazy and kept putting on different disguises, that was hilarious.

It's been so long since I ever actually watched Sonic X and I paid it so little mind when it was on that I can only really remember the first episode, the clips everyone uses in YouTube Poops, and scattered scenes with no context in my head as to what they were about whatsoever.
